View Full Version : Who Would Play Your Coach?

Eyes of Old Main
July 7th, 2007, 12:16 AM
As discussed on the Paul Finebaum show today, if they made a movie about your school or your conference, who should they hire to play your coach?

A few SEC examples given on Finebaum's show: Phillip Fulmer/Ned Beatty, Nick Saban/Al Pacino, etc.

Anyway, it was kind of a cool idea so here goes on AGS.

Mike Ayers/Chuck Norris. Definately playing up the martial arts angle and the cerebral, quiet nature.

They just seem to remind me of each other, especially since Jerry vanDyke played a football coach on the TV show Coach

How about the whole cast HiHi:

Dr. Peacock: Robin Williams
Jerry Moore: Robert Duvall
Roachel Laney: Matthew Lesko (the guy who had the commercials on how to get free money from the government. It's a bit part and the question mark suits are fitting).
Charlie Cobb: Vince Vaughn
David Jackson: Seth Green
Richie Williams: Chris Tucker
Dave Coulson: Christopher Lloyd (Great Scott!!)
Houston Fancher: Michael J. Fox

It could work. We have an App grad whose in charge of all the scenes in football movies.
I wonder if we could get Adam Sandler to pay the part of Bobby Lamb for us. Seems he owes us.

I even think George C. Scott would be in over his head at the role. You must look mean, have a great sense of humor, a southern drawl, and mean as hell on game day. I just don't know who could pull it off.

Everybody knows that the Mick is a Larry Storch clone. The fatter he gets, the less that's true, however.

(Could the Matthews-Storch connection explain why JMU's fight song sounds like the F-Troop Theme? I wonder.)

I was going to post Robert Duval too, even before seeing WUTNDITWAA's post. There doesn't seem to be a better choice out there, except that Duval is a lot meaner-looking than Coach Moore.

Gene Hackman? Burt Reynolds?

James Gammon, the manager from Major League, might do the trick.

I'm having trouble coming up with someone who actually LOOKS like Coach Moore, but the integrity of Hackman in "Hoosiers" would fit. Burt Reynolds eliminated himself with his plastic surgery. I like Duval in anything he plays.
