Montanans awfully quiet here...

I posted the relevant info in another thread last month. I'm too lazy to look it up again. IIRC MT was had 1 or 2 wins & 8 or 9 losses but those numbers included NC games at Marshall so... 0(1)-8?

My homer explanation/excuse continues to be that when MT has a really good team the selection committe insures that MT plays all their playoff games at home. On a "down" year they have to go on the road and then they lose. IIRC Montana's road losses were to Idaho (at least two), Nevada, Boise St, McNeese (twice), Georgia Southern, Youngstown & that horrific game at one of the Illinois schools (52-9?).

Teams that win on the road deserve accolades and respect. Teams that struggle?... well whatever you guys need to do to make you feel better about your team go ahead, Montana fans can take it...

Yes, Montana is 0-7 in road playoff games. We have lost these games to the following teams:

Georgia Southern
Youngstown St.
McNeese St. (twice)
Western Illinois

While I won't make excuses, those are some awfully tough places to win, let alone in a playoff atmosphere.

I guess I never realized how good we were at home in the play-offs. 11-1, what are some other numbers out there, I am sure that Deleware, Montana, Georgia Southern and YSU also have lopsided home play-off records? The real ironic thing is that the only team to beat us at home in the play-offs, Youngstown State, the team that can't seem to wipe their a$$ right when the come to Cedar Falls.

I think it was, yeah! 2004 was extra magical for us (on top of it being simply magical because winning the NC is always magical!)

I suppose one could argue theoretically that when teams are at their best they are seeded and play all games at home and should win. (When they are not seeded, buying the playoff game is important). And when they are not at their best, they hit the road and therefore should lose. So a school that is 50/50 or better is playing darn well on the road in the playoffs. xnodx

I was about to post that. There were some comments on the home field advantage, but when you really think about it, for many years the entire field was seeded so it would make sense that the home team (higher seed) would win a majority of the games. To say Montana had to travel in years when they were "down" is stating the obvious. The only team that seems to not really care where they play in YSU. That's a pretty impressive road record. xbowx
