Tomorrow is signing day.

How many do you think your school will pick up? HS or Transfers? It is going to be a bit of a crazy signing period due to the reset button being hit on the eligability calendar...What do you think your team's critical needs?

My Mocs have 6 known commits, but we expect to snag 2 more...We are fairly solid in all positions for fall of 2021, but we have several OL and WRs graduating after that, so grabbing a few Big Heavys and a few WRs would make me happy.

Southeastern Louisiana has six public (could be more), including a high upside HS QB from Alabama who committed yesterday. Others are a couple of OL, DE, LB and WR ... may have to sweat a couple though.

23 known commits for NDSU right now. That includes some recruited walk-ons so who knows how many scholarships that'll or if the PWOs will sign tomorrow or wait until the late signing period.

Here's the list: http://www.bisonville.com/forum/showthread.php?41116-2021-Recruiting-Summary

The rest of the FCS will be excited to know that, while Trey Lance is leaving NDSU, his little brother Bryce should sign a NLI to play for the Bison tomorrow (although he projects as a WR rather than a QB like Trey).

Now hearing we'll sign as many as 10 tomorrow, plus an FBS transfer announced at later date. May still sweat a couple.

I really haven't kept track of the Bison recruiting activities. I assume that NDSU got who they wanted for in-state recruiting. Now that UND is in the Valley did they make a dent at all. I heard about Feeney kid - any others.

Moorhead (Fargo sister city) had a pretty good HS team this year and I watched a Moorhead High game on TV and wasn't really that impressed with Feeney's arm. He is pretty mobile and probably has pretty good upside. The UND guys on here can speak to this but it looks like they will get around 18 or so today, not real sure what the "pulse" is for that class for them.

The Grand Forks Herald has the list on it's website but that rag is a pay site so I am not going to link to it.

UND has an average class, but Feeney looks to be like a great get. NDSU got their QB target extremely early in the recruiting process, and I don't think they had the need to target an additional QB. Feeney verballed to UND early, as well, in May, before this past season was played. His stat line was amazing and I'm sure NDSU would be happy with him had they ended up with him, but they got their first target early. Feeney has the potential to be really good if UND's O-line can protect him. It will be interesting to see how well he competes with the 3 young QB's that we already have, but his td to int ratio this year was incredible.

Feeney had 9 TD's in a game this year, couple running and 7 TD's passing or something. He seems to have pretty good touch throwing the ball and is a good runner. I am actually surprised that NDSU didn't take a run at him even though they had the kid out of Nebraska.

Southeastern Louisiana adds six for the day ... expecting a couple of more before period is done.

https://lionsports.net/news/2020/12/16/football-slu-adds-six-for-2021.aspx

2021 Southeastern Louisiana Football Signing Class
Gavin Burtchaell – OL – 6-6 – 275 – Chalmette, La. – Chalmette HS
Lynarise Elpheage, Jr. – WR – 5-10 – 175 – New Orleans, La. – Carver HS
Blakley Miller – OL – 6-5 – 275 – Paducah, Ky. – McCracken County HS
Coryell Pierce – WR/DB – 5-11 – 175 – New Orleans, La. – Booker T. Washington HS
Cherif Seye – DE – 6-5 – 260 – Houston, Texas – ASA College/Alief Hastings HS
Bauer Sharp – QB – 6-5 – 220 – Dothan, Ala. – Dothan HS

Player Capsules
Gavin Burtchaell – OL – 6-6 – 275 – Chalmette, La. – Chalmette HS
Prepped at Chalmette High School, playing tight end for the Owls … Expected to be an offensive lineman at the collegiate level.
Head Coach Frank Scelfo (https://lionsports.net/coaches.aspx?rc=2971) on Burtchaell: "We got an absolute steal with Gavin. He's a big, lean, aggressive player who comes off the ball very well. He's a physical player that we think will grow into an athletic tackle for us and give us a physical presence we haven't had."

Lynarise Elpheage Jr. – WR – 5-10 – 175 – New Orleans, La. – Carver HS
Accounted for over 2,000 all-purpose yards and 15 touchdowns during sophomore and junior seasons at Carver High School … Nicknamed the "Human Joy Stick" for his dynamic playmaking ability … Father, Lynarise Elpheage Sr., was coached by SLU head coach Frank Scelfo (https://lionsports.net/coaches.aspx?rc=2971) at Tulane from 2000-02.
Scelfo on Elpheage Jr.: "Lynarise is dynamic with the ball in his hands. I signed his father out of high school when I was at Tulane and his son is cut from the same mold. Lynarise can have an immediate impact in the return game with his explosiveness."

Blakley Miller – OL – 6-5 – 275 – Paducah, Ky. – McCracken County HS
All-WKC and Paducah Sun All-Purchase selection at McCracken County High School … Also a standout on the MCHS wrestling team … Father, William, attended SLU.
Scelfo on Miller: "Blakley is a second-generation Lion and we were really impressed with him when he came to our camp a couple of summers ago. He gives us that added length that we've really been looking for on the offensive line."

Coryell Pierce – WR/DB – 5-11 – 175 – New Orleans, La. – Booker T. Washington HS
Do-everything wide receiver and defensive back at Booker T. Washington High School … Also standout on school's basketball team, earning All-District 10-3A honors as the Lions' point guard … Helped basketball team to the 2019 state championship game.
Scelfo on Pierce: "Coryell is very athletic and can play on either side of the ball. We're going to want to get the ball in his hands and we may have to move him around to see where he best fits. Coryell's athleticism is going to lead to him finding a place on the field."

Cherif Seye – DE – 6-5 – 260 – Houston, Texas – ASA College (FL)/Alief Hastings HS
Signed with Bethune Cookman out of high school, before transferring to ASA College in Florida … Prepped at Alief Hastings High School … Will enroll in SLU for the spring semester and be eligible to compete in the spring 2021 season.
Scelfo on Seye: "Cherif is a big, physical player that can give us an added presence on the defensive line. He can play right away this spring and we expect him to be an immediate impact."

Bauer Sharp – QB – 6-5 – 220 – Dothan, Ala. – Dothan HS
Starting quarterback at Dothan High School … Began prep career as starting quarterback and baseball standout at Northside Methodist Academy.
Scelfo on Sharp: "Bauer has great size and is very athletic. He fits the mold of what we want out of the quarterback position. He reminds me a little bit of (former Tulane quarterback) Patrick Ramsey. He has a big arm, he's a great leader and can make a difference with his athleticism. Bauer has a chance to be a big-time player for us and we think the sky's the limit for him."

Head Coach Clay Hendrix recruited Texas for Air Force and Pete Lusk FU-OL coach played and coached at AFA and he's the recruiting coordinator for Texas. Furman actually is that serious about Texas. The Dallas area has so many strong TAPPS schools with players that are high academic. Furman will now have four Texas running backs on the roster.

It's a mid-sized senior class... 17 on the roster as of now. Not all of them will be back for the spring but I'd guess a handful, including QB Zeb Noland will return this spring and in the fall of 2021 as well. I think this year's NDSU class was heavier on recruited walk-ons than normal (and they normally sign 10+ PWOs in a class) because scholarships are going to be a hot commodity going forward with everyone getting an extra year of eligibility this year. Only the 2021 season is allowed to have more than the max but I get the feeling that most FCS programs, NDSU included, are not going to be doling out a ton of extra scholarships in the fall of 2021 with the budget constraints that are likely coming.

OK, I wasn't sure how they were going to handle all scholarships with one class having the options of returning for a 6th year - thanks for the insight.

Furman signed 15… a blurb

Seven states are represented in this year's recruiting class, paced by talent-rich Texas, which yielded five signees. Georgia followed with three and Tennessee and Florida with two each. The Paladins also signed players from North Carolina, Ohio, and Delaware.

Among Furman's highest profile signees are defensive end Bryce Stanfield from Acworth, Ga., tight end Brandon Whittemore from Lafayette, Tenn., and Buford, Ga., inside linebacker Tommy Beuglas.

Stanfield, who picked Furman from among 25 offers, played a pivotal role in Harrison High School's 6A state championship (15-0) run in 2019 and helped lead the Hoyas to a Sweet 16 playoff appearance after moving up to the 7A ranks in 2020. Whittemore, a 2019 Tennessee Coaches Association 4A All-State selection, netted 23 scholarship offers along with a invitation to the state's prestigious East-West All-Star Combine. Beuglas, holder of 21 offers and an all-state selection who helped lead gridiron powerhouse Buford to a 5A state championship (13-2) in 2019, has keyed his program to another playoff run as the Wolves face Valdosta in Georgia's 6A semifinals on Friday.

Lehigh signed 11 for it's worth. 6 states and 2 countries represented in 11 recruits during a pandemic is probably the most interesting tidbit at this point...

Geographically, the Mountain Hawks signed players from six states plus tight end Scott Fulton from Ottawa, Canada, who prepped at Salisbury School in Connecticut. Three signees hail from Pennsylvania including local product Matt Rauscher, quarterback from Allentown Central Catholic. Lehigh continued its recruiting success in North Carolina and Georgia and also signed athletes from Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia.

Maine with 8 early signings, 3 transfers, looks like we beefed up the defensive 2ndary very nicely.

Today`s committments:
DB Kahzir `Buggs` Brown - https://www.hudl.com/video/3/9685986/5e7b7b840c54160cdcd0842d
DB Abdul Stewart - https://www.hudl.com/profile/11449345/Abdul-Sabur-Stewart
DB Jabari Echols - https://www.hudl.com/profile/10128011/Jabari-Echols
S Vincent Thomas (Navy Academy) - https://twitter.com/vince_thomas1/status/1305546906911805440
OL Jack Webb (Sacred Heart) - https://www.hudl.com/profile/6079250/Jack-Webb
TE Antonio Corsi - https://www.hudl.com/profile/9394880/Antonio-Corsi
K Richie Pekmezian (Indiana State) - https://www.hudl.com/video/3/13217485/5db8eaf72aa6271070ade017
LB Darius McKenzie - https://www.hudl.com/video/3/9164324/5dbf1937664b000e40884659
Also, is anyone surprised by how many DB`s we signed? To me it seemed like one of our strongest positions. Gotta say, though, all of them look very talented. Especially Brown––kid`s a beast and a hidden gem.

Towson signs 8 - 3 transfers.

Gabriel Gomez – Kicker – Sophomore – 5-11, 170 – Miami, Fla. – Arizona State University
Gomez transfers to Towson after a year at Arizona State University. Originally from Venezuela, he attended Monsignor Pace High in Florida. Ranked a 4.5-star kicker, Gomez ranked third among kickers in the state of Florida and ranked 16th nationally for kickoffs.
Lyndon Johnson (https://towsontigers.com/coaches.aspx?rc=558) on Gomez: "Gabriel has taken the long road to get to Towson: from Florida, to Arizona and now Maryland. We are excited to get him here and see how he can help our Tigers get better."

Marcus Joyner – Tight End – Senior – 6-2, 245 – Camden, N.C. – Old Dominion University
Joyner will play his final year of college football with Towson after spending the last four years at Old Dominion. In 2019, Joyner played in all 12 games for the Monarchs with seven starts, making 14 receptions for 146 yards. A former three-star recruit at Camden County High, he accumulated 3,083 rushing yards and 43 rushing touchdowns as a fullback.
William Lang (https://towsontigers.com/staff.aspx?staff=2309) on Joyner: "Marcus is a unique talent with a combination of strong football knowledge, strength and speed. With his abilities in the pass and run game, we will be able to diversify more aspects of our offense as a team. Having him join the team next semester can only help with the development of the team."

Isaiah Perkins – Wide Receiver – Freshman – 6-2, 190 – Laurel, Md. – St. Vincent Pallotti
A three-star recruit by 247Sports, Perkins comes to Towson after a strong career at St. Vincent Pallotti in Laurel. A football and track standout, Perkins had a key 52-yard receiving touchdown to lead the Panthers to the 2019 MIAA B Championship, the school's second-straight title game appearance. He notched Baltimore Touchdown Club Super 22 Team and All-MIAA First Team honors with 688 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 2019.
Justin Harper (https://towsontigers.com/staff.aspx?staff=2269) on Perkins: "Perkins is a big, strong kid that could have an easy transition to the college game, simply because he truly loves football. He is a Maryland kid that flat out makes plays and has a bright future. I'm beyond excited to have him join The Brotherhood, and I can't wait to work with him."

Darien Reynolds – Inside Linebacker – Senior – 6-0, 225 – Charlotte, N.C. – Gardner-Webb University
A 2020 Preseason All-Big South First Team linebacker, Reynolds has played in 34 career games for Gardner-Webb, amassing 225 career tackles and 13 pass deflections. He was a 2019 All-Big South Second Team selection, his second all-league honor in as many seasons, with team-highs of 128 total tackles and three forced fumbles. As a senior at Vance High, Reynolds earned 2016 All-MECKA 7 Conference honors with 109 tackles and 15.5 tackles for loss.
Eric Daniels (https://towsontigers.com/staff.aspx?staff=2307) on Reynolds: "Darien comes with a lot of experience being a two-time all-conference player at the FCS level. He finished second in tackles for the conference last season. He brings the passion and love for the game that you want in your program.

Evan Rutkowski – Outside Linebacker – Freshman – 6-2, 200 – Ashburn, Va. – Briar Woods H.S.
Rutkowski follows the family tradition, joining the Tigers with his brother Ryan. Evan led Briar Woods high to the 2019 VHSL Region 5C semifinal, scoring two touchdowns, on a return and on a reception. He received multiple honors in 2019 including All-LoCo First Team Defense, First Team All-Region 5C and All-Northern Virginia, earning awards as a defensive back and wide receiver.
Collin Bauer (https://towsontigers.com/staff.aspx?staff=2249) on Rutkowski: "We are extremely excited to add Evan to the family. Evan is a versatile player that can dominate in all phases of the game. The tenacity and intensity that he plays with will allow Evan to thrive on this defense."

Scott Smith III – Quarterback – Freshman – 6-4, 210 – Brooklandville, Md. – St. Paul's School
Brooklandville-native Smith III will stay in the home county to suit up for the Black & Gold. During the 2019 campaign, Smith III finished with a 67% completion rate, 1,703 passing yards and 18 passing touchdowns to earn an MIAA All-Conference selection. NBC Sports Washington named him as one of the top-10 high school quarterbacks in the DMV area.
Rob Ambrose (https://towsontigers.com/coaches.aspx?rc=548) on Smith III: "Very impressed with Scott's body of work throughout high school. His talent as a passer and toughness as a field general caught our eye early on. With his great academic background and family ties to Towson combined with all those skills...we are excited about his future as a Tiger."

Florian Staehler – Offensive Line – Freshman – 6-8, 280 – Kφln, Germany – American International Academy (R.I.)
Staehler is the most recent European addition for the Tigers, joining fellow German Roman Wahrheit (https://towsontigers.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=11807) on the offensive line. He played football at the American International Academy in Rhode Island, competing at lineman on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. His play earned him PPI All-Star Team recognition.
Brian Scott (https://towsontigers.com/staff.aspx?staff=2358) on Staehler: "Florian will be a great addition to a veteran offensive line group. He is a long, athletic tackle projection with a lot of room to grow physically. Getting here in the spring will be great for his development."

Mason Woods – Inside Linebacker – Freshman – 6-0, 220 – Woodbridge, Va. – Gar-Field H.S.
A starting inside linebacker at Gar-Field High since his freshman year, Woods comes across the Potomac River to compete for the Black & Gold. The two-star recruit by 247Sports led Gar-Field to seven victories in 2019, the school's first winning season since 2011, to earn All-Cardinal District Defensive Player of the Year and D6/AAA MVP. Woods is a two-time First Team All-Region 6B and First Team All-Cardinal District honoree.
Eric Daniels (https://towsontigers.com/staff.aspx?staff=2307) on Woods: "Mason plays the game with the attitude and aggressiveness that you look for in an inside linebacker. He has natural instincts and a nose for getting to the football. He is a young man with high character that we are excited to add to this program."

Looks like Wroble is a Transfer from Air Force, a 2020 signee for the Falcons, who Mercer previously recruited / offered out of Mill Creek High. Coming out of HS, Wroble had other offers from Mercer, Coastal Carolina, Ball State, Army, Miami (OH), South Alabama, WCU, EKU, Wofford, The Citadel, and Tennessee Tech.

Could end being a nice Offensive piece for Mercer.

I don't think it's about ice. It's about opportunity and the flash of playing for Deion. SEC facilities are amazing. Deion is a salesmen and has kids thinking they can be the game changers.

But let's be clear, HBCU's have gotten P5 transfers for years. Just never been broadcasted like this before

Not so many in one setting during the modern "star"/plethora of evaluations era though.

Some are not P5 txfers but actual P5 flips. Right now this very second, do you think your HC/staff can flip a highly coveted and credentialed 4* OL destined for the sec-e winning program in florida? A 4* QB? Is your institution, right now this very second, on paper, top-40 d-1 fbs/fcs recruitment wise? *crickets*

Jealousy is not a good look. I yield credit where credit is due. For those of us w/ the good sense dwelling in the big xii & sec footprint, it has always been about the sub-32 degree H2O from day zero. xreadx Haves vs have nots, etc.

not that familiar with UCA… but I noticed Furman went head to head with UCA for OT Alex Cain from Lebanon, TN.
It looks like by this post and looking at who Furman recruited against for several players the SoCon, OVC, and Southland (UCA) are going up head to head for a lot of players.

For years UCA signed kids mainly out of Arkansas and Texas. It’s only been recently that we get kids out of Florida and that east coast and Deep South region. If we move to the Big South we will only hit those areas even harder improving our programs overall.

So far we have 9 for the early signing: 7 HS and 2 transfers from Texas St. Only one from out of Texas, a little place called Queen Creek next to where I grew up in Chandler. Honestly, I am at the point of fairly low excitement until they prove themselves on the field. Also, we have some key spots we really need to fill, so I expect some more transfers.

Makes a lot of sense then… if UCA does join the Big South the recruiting footprint of Georgia, Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina are fertile ground for players. The problem is the competition for these players is fierce. I watched the Buford/Valdosta Georgia semi-final matchup, the players in that game and the offers was mind-boggling. Buford had nine players sign on Dec. 16th, six signed with FBS schools, three signed with FCS schools. Furman signed Buford's MLB (Tommy Beuglas) getting him over 20 other offers. Getting a highly-recruited linebacker to commit to an FCS school over FBS schools is one thing - getting a playmaker (running back/wide receiver) is another. Buford has two stud running backs the senior (Gabe Erving) signed with Nebraska, the junior running back Victor Venn already has offers from Arizona State, Southern Cal to Michigan State.

I think it's getting harder for FCS schools to recruit obvious playmaker talent in the deep south. In the last three classes Furman has now signed four running backs from Texas. For a school like Furman (high academics and tough admissions) they're having to expand recruiting outside the deep south for playmaker talent.

UCA might be able to do what NDSU does and pluck some great athletes from the deep south, but for many schools in the SoCon and the BigSouth you have to mine for the diamonds in the rough and coach them up.

BEAR

UCA is finding out that there are a lot of kids in Florida who want to go out of state because they aren’t getting looked at by the FBS schools there but get tons of offers from FCS schools. Their talent, and those of kids in Georgia, Mississippi, and Alabama, offers UCA a bigger pool than just Arkansas and Texas. I don’t think it will equate to what NDSU has done but if it will get us past the second round most years then awesome IMO. I think if you ask most Bear fans if they are happy with recruiting they will tell you those players that choose UCA have left it on the field and THAT is all they can ask of them....no matter where they are from.

Looks like the Bears added a 7th future FCS All-American to their signing class this morning...

https://twitter.com/mercerfootball/status/1339571056533630977

Looks like Wroble is a Transfer from Air Force, a 2020 signee for the Falcons, who Mercer previously recruited / offered out of Mill Creek High. Coming out of HS, Wroble had other offers from Mercer, Coastal Carolina, Ball State, Army, Miami (OH), South Alabama, WCU, EKU, Wofford, The Citadel, and Tennessee Tech.

Could end being a nice Offensive piece for Mercer.Mercer Bears added 2 more and are now up to 9 future FCS All-Americans in this signing class...

The flips were the 3 star OL guy who was on his way to FL and the JUCO corner who was a 4 star and on his way to UGA. Deion son is the QB who flipped and his other son left SC to come to Jackson. No one is jealous , this is something that happens. He has a few other P5 kids who transferred in.

We can celebrate all the recruiting wins and how many stars kids have. But at the end of the day , it's 11 on 11. They will have to prove it on the field. That's what i'm ready to see

More like 40 on 40. No question the right impact players can take over a game, but quality of depth usually wins/loses games over the long haul.

It will be interesting how these last 2 classes play out at most FCS schools....i.e. it will basically be 2 entire classes of recruits who will haven't played a game yet (except those that may play a bit this Spring).

We'll have knock-down dragouts in the SWAC, certainly. Thankfully, the SWAC accepted FAMU and BCU to round out our upward trending that's occurring over the last duration.

And for those schools not encumbered by the thought of redshirts, as many as three classes:

Class of 2025 (freshmen)
Class of 2024 (sophomores and redshirt 2020 freshmen)
Class of 2023 (those redshirted in 2019)

Samford did well, but talent is not usually our problem. We have 3 xfers who should have immediate impact:

Patrick Nuss - A 6-7, 315 lb. OL from UAB. He played in all of the Blazers' games and started 4 of them. Played at nearby Vestavia Hills HS. Was rated a 2** by 247

J R Tran-Reno - A Vandy xfer, Tran-Reno is a 6-1, 214 lb. Athlete. He played at nearby Briarwood Christian HS, was all-State, 5A Back of the Year, and finalist for Alabama's 5A Mr. Football. He was rated a 3*** by 247, Rivals, and ESPN. He will have 3 years to play for the Bulldogs.

Seth Simmer - A 6-4 300 lb. DT xfer from Dartmouth. Simmer is a former 4-AAAAAA All-Stater from Powder Springs GA. He played both ways for Harrison HS and was chosen AA on both. In 2018 he received a Mayo Clinic Comeback POY Award for returning to PT after having brain surgery the year before.

Our highest rated HS player is Michael Maginnis from Newnan Georgia. Maginnis is a 6-1 182 lb. QB, who is a 247 3*** player and had 6 FBS offers. Unbelievably, Samford now has three 247 Sports 3*** QBs on the roster.

Samford signed a Safety from Daphne(whose first name is Midnight), a DE from state champion Thompson HS, and another DE from Sarasota FL.

That is 7 good players that could play with a lot of teams. But again, what will we do with them?

If his health is no longer an issue he's definitely an immediate contributor. I thought he wasn't quite yet an ACC recruit but would have excelled at the G5 level. At SFA he should be able to step in and compete immediately for playing time and earn meaningful playing time for the Jacks.

EAST GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T signed 17 future Aggie football players on National Signing Day, head coach Sam Washington (https://ncataggies.com/coaches.aspx?rc=354) announced on Wednesday.
Seven of those players – Avarion Cole (6-foot-1, 205, DB, Charlotte, N.C., Julius L. Chambers HS); Henry Daniel (6-2, 225, DE, Creedmor, N.C., South Granville HS); Zach Yeager (6-foot-2, 200, QB, Minneapolis, Minn., Minneapolis North), Terrell Spicer (6-3, 170, DB, Jacksonville, N.C., Northside HS); Korion Sharpe (6-4, 315, OL, Charlotte, N.C., Rocky River HS); Nathaniel Spindle (5-11, 185, DB, Charlotte, N.C., Julius L. Chambers HS); and Jamison Warren (5-11, 175, WR, Winston-Salem, N.C., East Forsyth HS) – the Aggies staff initially announced in December as a part of their mid-year commitments. (https://ncataggies.com/news/2020/12/16/aggies-fb-releases-mid-year-football-class.aspx)

The additional 10 new Aggies are wide receivers Sterling Berkhalter (6-4, 186, Cincinnati, Ohio, Georgia Prep Sports), Elijah Bowick (6-1, 216, Charlotte, N.C., Virginia Tech, Myers Park HS); defensive back Shawn Chappell (6-2, 180, Durham, N.C., Southern Durham HS); running back Charlie Dixon (6-2, 230, Hogansville, Ga., Callaway HS), defensive linemen Kyiev Bennermon (6-3, 300, Poughkeepsie, NY, Boston College, Spackenkill HS), Quinton Hill (6-6, 190, Havelock, NC, Havelock HS); Emmanuel Ukhueligbe (6-3, 280, Fayetteville, N.C., Saddleback CC, Army, Seventy-First HS); offensive lineman Johnathan Cannon (6-4, 250, Charlotte, N.C., Vance HS), linebacker Sam Ofurie (6-1, 210, Salem, Mass., IMG Academy) and long snapper Damien Jackson (5-11, 205, Indian Trail, N.C., Porter Ridge HS).

"The satisfying part about this class and the guys we signed in December is that we competed against some good to great Division I programs to get these guys here," said Washington, who came to N.C. A&T in 2011 as the Aggies defensive coordinator before becoming the head coach in 2018.
"When we first got here, we would not have been able even to get a phone conversation with some of these guys. It tells you how far we have advanced as a football program. We came away with some talented players. Some are going to help us right now. Some are going to be able to help us down the line."
Berkhalter is a three-star wide receiver who possesses height, speed and strength. 247Sports.com ranked him the third-best prep school receiver in the nation. Berkhalter weighed through 15 offers before choosing N.C. A&T. Those schools included Morgan State, Hampton, Alabama A&M, Navy, Army and Liberty.

Joining Berkhalter at receiver is Bowick, a Virginia Tech transfer. Bowick redshirted at Tech in 2019. Before signing with the Hokies, 247Sports.com ranked Bowick as a three-star recruit from Myers Park High School. He had 3,730 career receiving yards on 199 receptions with 48 touchdowns. Bowick earned two all-state honors and had 1,424 yards, 62 receptions and 17 touchdowns as a senior.
Chappell is a three-star safety, according to 247Sports.com. The same site ranked him the 69th-best player in North Carolina from the class of 2021. As a junior, Chappell recorded 47 tackles for the Southern Durham Spartans. He also intercepted five passes and recovered a fumble while helping the Spartans to a 10-2 record overall and a 7-0 mark in the Big Eight 3A Conference.

Dixon is another player the Aggies had to compete against top Division I schools to sign. Several schools offered Dixon before he decided to head to Aggieland. Dixon is a three-star athlete who turned down Arkansas, Chattanooga, Cincinnati and Georgia Southern. He was 49th player at his position, 52nd in the state and 261st in his region.
Despite missing four games to quarantine and deal with injuries, Dixon still rushed for 1,045 yards and 16 TDs in seven games. Over a four-game stretch, he rushed for 735 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Bennermon is a Division I transfer out of Boston College. He played nine games for the Eagles in 2019 where he made one start and recorded 11 tackles on the season including 2 ½ tackles for loss. As a prep star, 247Sports ranked him as the top tackle prospect coming out of New York. He was rated No. 22 overall coming out of New York and No. 114 overall. He finished his career with 179 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 13 sacks and 13 quarterback hurries.
Hill, like most tall defensive linemen who come to N.C. A&T in the next few years will be compared to former Aggie defensive end and current Buffalo Bill, Darryl Johnson, Jr. Johnson, who won MEAC defensive player of the year in 2018, stands at 6-foot-7. Hill is 6-6 with speed and agility. He also did well academically in high school.

Ukhueligbe started at Army, where he did not see action in 2017 or '18. He spent one season at USMAPS under head coach Andy Wolfrum and was a four-year letterwinner at 71st. He earned all-conference and all-region honors three times and competed in the Shrine Bowl as a senior.
Cannon is a two-star talent who will develop into a solid offensive lineman at N.C. A&T. He chose N.C. A&T over Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Charlotte and Coastal Carolina. ESPN ranked him 73rd in the state, 136th at his position and 708th in his region. He also played defensive line in high school.

Ofurie is a three-star athlete who had offers from Michigan, Marshall, Syracuse and UMass. He is a strong player who likes to hit people. He should be a fixture at middle linebacker throughout his career. Jackson will handle the long snapping duties for N.C. A&T.

Towson signees for both siging periods:
Mark Collins Jr. – Cornerback – Senior – 5-11, 185 – Overland Park, Kan. – University of South Dakota
A three-year starter in the South Dakota secondary, Collins led all of FCS with two passes defended per game in 2018. At South Dakota, Collins tallied 25 pass break-ups, four interceptions and 82 tackles in 27 games. He was a two-star athlete in football and baseball at Blue Valley West, earning 2014 and 2015 All-Eastern Kansas League recognition as a cornerback. He is the son of 13-year NFL veteran and two-time Super Bowl champion Mark Collins.

Coach Eric Daniels (https://towsontigers.com/staff.aspx?staff=2307) on Collins: "Collins brings a lot of experience at this level to the position being a three-year starter at USD. He was well respected by his previous conference and I am excited to have him finish up his collegiate career as a Tiger."

Kenjuan Manuel – Defensive Line – Freshman – 6-1, 295 - Washington, D.C. – St. John's College (H.S.)
A three-star recruit by ESPN.com and 247Sports, Manuel joins fellow St. John's College alum Jamal Gay (https://towsontigers.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=11011) on the Tigers. Manuel is ranked among the top-10 defensive linemen in the Class of 2020 in the DMV by NBC Sports Washington and notched 2019 WCAC All-Conference Second Team honors after helping St. John's College to top-50 national rankings in each of his final two years. 247Sports ranked him the ninth-rated player out of the nation's capital.

Coach Konstantinos Kosmakos (https://towsontigers.com/coaches.aspx?rc=553) on Manuel: "We are very excited about Kenjuan joining the defensive line here at my alma mater. Every great defense needs to be strong up the middle; Kenjuan will be able to do that over the next 4-5 years. Being from our backyard gave us a great opportunity to land such an exceptional and talented young man; I know he and his mother Faith are extremely excited to officially be a part of Towson football."

Tatah Njoka – Defensive Back – Senior – 5-11, 190 – Silver Spring, Md. – Glenville State College
Njoka played three years at Glenville State and joins the Towson roster this spring. He played in 10 games during the 2018 season on defense and special teams for the Pioneers, being a member of the school's Honor Roll and the President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Previous to Glenville State, Njoka played at Paint Branch High as a running back.

Coach Daniels on Njoka: "Njoka is a diverse player with a good football IQ that can play both safety and corner. He was a two-year starter at Glenville State, bringing plenty of game experience at the collegiate level."

Jawon Pass – Quarterback – Senior – 6-4, 230 – Columbus, Ga. – University of Louisville
Pass was the starting quarterback at Louisville in 2018, earning 2,800 total offensive yards and 14 touchdowns in 21 career games with the school. Upon recruitment in 2016, Pass was a four-star recruit by ESPN, Rivals.com and 247Sports as a top-15 dual-threat quarterback in the class. At Carver High, he was a U.S. Army All-American, three-time All-Georgia, Bi-City Player of the Year and three-time All-Bi-City honoree, earning 2,215 passing yards, 789 rushing yards and 32 total touchdowns.

Coach Ambrose on Pass: "Jawon Pass brings with him extensive game experience at the Power Five level after playing behind and learning from one of the most dynamic and talented players in the game today. We believe that his experience and skill set have the opportunity to help elevate our offense."

Griffin Patterson – Tight End – Freshman – 6-5, 230 – Broadlands, Va. – Independence H.S.
From just across the Virginia border comes Patterson, a two-sport standout in football and basketball at Independence High. In football, he earned second team all-region honors at tight end and competed in the Spotlight Exposure Camp. He is the son of Sean Patterson, a Towson grad who played 42 games at tight end from 1990-93.

Coach William Lang (https://towsontigers.com/staff.aspx?staff=2309) on Patterson: "Griffin has a unique combination of size and athleticism to be an impact player at the tight end position. He has the length to be a mismatch in the passing game and the strength to be one in the run game. Once his cleats hit the turf, he will be a major asset to Towson for years to come."

Darnell "DJ" Pratt – Cornerback – Junior – 6-3, 185 - Ellicott City, Md. – University of Virginia
Pratt returns to his home state with two years of eligibility after playing 14 games at Virginia. At Good Counsel High, Pratt, a two-star recruit by ESPN, Rivals.com and 247Sports, was a three-time WCAC all-conference wide receiver with 74 receptions, 1,525 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns in his high school career. A track standout, the 2015 Baltimore Sun Track Athlete of the Year and two-time New Balance All-American broke the state record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.94 seconds.

Coach Daniels on Pratt: "It is nice to bring a local back to the state of Maryland. DJ brings the length and speed that you look for in a corner, and has the tools and ability to be a special player for this university."

Makai Self – Cornerback – Sophomore – 5-9, 170 - Upper Marlboro, Md. – Penn State University

He played football at the American International Academy in Rhode Island, competing at lineman on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. His play earned him PPI All-Star Team recognition.

On Staehler: "Florian will be a great addition to a veteran offensive line group.
