They chose to attend schools that they KNEW had difficulty meeting the requirements of the NCAA (based on the overall academic record of those schools, NOT a contrived notion such as discriminatory APR). Do they think eligibility should be defined as something like "athletes must meet at least the standard of the average student at the institution," or such? If the requirement WAS changed like that, schools like Duke, Stanford, and Northwestern would be at a significant disadvantage (not to mention most of the Ivies).

They got what they could have reasonably expected. Suit is frivolous.

Somebody explain this to me. The rule is for everyone. But the HBCUs say its discrimitory because they cant make the grades?????

I think the argument would be that it is discriminatory BECAUSE it is the same for everyone.

Their typical students are not on an academic par with typical students at other schools (based on retention and graduation rates), so it is unfair to ask their athletes to be on an academic par with athletes at other schools (based on progress toward graduation).

So they want to be treated differently but equal???? I dont get it???????
