Frank becomes #21 in the club, and gets booted from the game.

Frank should make the Hall of Fame!

Any home runs hit by a player as a DH should be exluded from records when HOF credentials are being considered.

It's a shame because his accomplishments were lost in the steriods age IMO and I don't think he used.

.300+ career batting average 500 home runs....thats Hall material. Plus I look at him and IMO he did it the right way. I don't think he was ever a steroid user or cheating like others sluggers of his time that IMO was a victim and overshadowed by those that did. I look at him and he only got fatter looking to me and his power numbers stayed consistent his whole career. I don't think he cheated, but since he played in the steroids age you never know or don't know how to view him. It killed his thunder because your supposed to stand out in your era.

Remember he was big stuff in the early 90's and one of the top power hitters always among the homers and RBI leaders until the steroid age. When the steroids age begain he was forgotten even though he continued to hit 35-40 homers in the mid and late 90's. While Brady Anderson's and others suddenly hit 50. No steriod age and he is clearly the premier power hitters of his time. I don't think he took them but if he cheated like the others I think he may have hit 80 because he was already huge.

He seems like a Dave Winfield/Eddie Murray type who also went to the hall but more impressive because he was injured a lot.

The thing that will hurt the Big Hurt for HOF is that in 5 -7 years, depending on how long he plays, there will probably be another 10-15 players with 500 home runs.

This would move him out of the top 30.

He was a prick, but based on performance, I'd vote him in.

Hes is a shoe in with the consecutive seasons of .300+ avg, 20+ HR, 100+ RBI, 100+ BBs and back to back MVPs, not to mention Steroid Giambi ROBBING Frank of the MVP in 2000. He also won a batting Title. Not that this is an official stat but he has finished Top 10 in MVP voting 9 years...that says consistency...Frank will be a HOFer

I agree that Frank Thomas is basically a lock for the HOF. Who else do you think are locks or close to it for the HOF that are currently playing.
My list, deffinately pitcher dominated
Greg Maddux
Rodger Clemens
Ken Griffey Jr.
Frank Thomas
Mariano Rivera
Derek Jeter
Alex Rodriguez
Ivan Rodriguez
Randy Johnson
Tom Glavine
John Smoltz
Curt Schilling
Trevor Hoffman
*Barry Bonds- i think he'll get in despite the steroid stuff unless he's eventually banned ala Rose or something
*Sammy Sosa- hardly any real evidence to keep him out and is somewhat likeable

Might get in
Chipper Jones
Omar Vizquel(sp??)
Jim Thome
Manny Ramirez

you do need to add Biggio to the list.

you do need to add Biggio to the list.

Biggio will get in if Jeff Kent gets in. Both players have had rock solid careers, Kent even has an MVP, but both lack signiture moments. Biggio i think will have a hard time getting in same with Kent. I think if Bagwell didn't flame out Biggio might have a better chance. However as it is Biggio spent too many years in Bagwells shadow to stand out enough to earn a HOF nod.

What happened to Big Frank's HR Ball?

The fan traded it to the White Sox for an autographed Frank Thomas Jersey and Baseball.

I'm torn between my admiration of that move and the financial possibilities. xchinscratchx

Biggio will get in based off the numbers he's amassed, not the moments he's created. Kind of like Palmiero would have been before being busted. But that is a double edged sword because Bert Blyleven had been kept out because of the perception that he amassed stats rather than dominating.

Why would the White Sox want Frank Thomas' ball...Did you mean Toronto?

Agreed! He's always been a fearsome hitter, and he hasn't jumped around from club to club.

Here's a story about the guy who caught Frank's HR ball. He's from a town in Central MN where my parents currently reside. Personally, I think I would have sold it - even if it were for only $50,000.

Frank Thomas was the most fear hitter during the early to mid 1990's. He has accumulated the 500 HRs over a career span comparable to the older players that did prior to this steriod era, with the bulk of his power numbers happening before 1997.

Personally, I thought he was a HOFer even before he left for Oakland last year.
