The Timberwolves trade of Kevin Garnett would be complete if the NBA players involved wanted to play in Boston.

So far Garnett said he didn't want to, now Shaun Marion doesn't want to play in Boston.

What's up with that, where's all the old-time Celtic tradition?

Mike Wilbon suggested on PTI that young, black men in general would not want to go to Boston because of a perceived attitude in the city and surrounding area. He admitted that the perception could be right or wrong, but nonetheless mentioned it as a possible factor.

He did say that it was the only place where he had been called the N word to his face.

Yeah...
I have people all the time (as I travel) tell me how rascist Boston is... most of them have never even been there (which is interesting)...

but I think about it often as I travel and wonder if Boston is a rascist place... it doesn't seem like it as I live in Boston but who am I to say either way..?

The Boston Globes Bob Ryan touched on this during a podcast yesterday saying that its a view taken up long ago and players decide by that, but that black players who do come to Boston do learn that its something thats no longer true.

there are 7 black guys in my office, I know this because they call themselves "N7" which is hysterical... we've got 64 people in the North American office in Boston, so when I get back I'm going to do an official "office poll" regarding Racism and Boston... more later on that

Note: a few of the guys are from South America Roberto and Edgar and then Sal is from Puerto Rico and they are definitely Hispanic (habla espanol) but they sure like being part of "N7" (again which is hysterical) it's good fun... in the lunch room Artel has hung this poster (see below) from the 1960 Olympics... (And they've all "autographed it") like they were rock stars with a fan club…
