BATON ROUGE, LA -- Mariah Clayton, the reigning Miss Louisiana USA and former Southern University Volleyball student-athlete, is a native of Zachary, LA and 2017 graduate of Southern University Agricultural and Mechanical College. At the age of twelve, Mariah found her passion for playing volleyball. Mariah began her collegiate volleyball career with the Jaguars in the Fall of 2014 serving as team captain her junior and senior year. She also coached for Louisiana Volleyball Club during her off seasons. "Mariah is a remarkable young woman who I had the privilege of coaching for four years, said Southern University Head Volleyball Coach, Venessa Jacobs. She exhibited all of the skills that are needed to lead. This is a time where we have so much to be proud of. She's not only competing to make Southern University and our program proud, she's doing this to make the entire HBCU community proud."
