With all due respect to ESPN, that article was a reach. None of us will watch a horse race in Dubai or see a soccer game in Rio de Janiero. So why not make a list of what Americans really want to see, namely, football.

So here's the thread: name a college football event you think people outght to experience first hand, and please, don't just say "a tailgate at [my school]". Entries for all divisions are welcome (because there are even a couple of D-III things people should experience too).

One per thread, please.

1. Attend the Army-Navy game in Philadelphia.

In South Carolina... it would be the Clemson/South Carolina season ending game.

Although I wouldn't bother... 'cause I will be at Coastal's game...

Attend a game at South Bend, Ann Arbor, Athens Ga, Knoxville and Missoula...

Watch St John's University in Minnesota and John Gagliardi before he retires. He coaches in an unorthaidox style. His QB's call their own plays. His kids graduate. The winingest coach in the game.

Go the the College football Hall of Fame while you're in South Bend.

Go to the FCS championship game.

A game at old Pitt stadium, but unfortunantly that one is lost forever, but what a place that was.

I still say Patriot or Ivy football in October. The northeast has great weather in late september early october and you cant beat hanging out at any of the campuses. If your a history buff you will love the tradition of the schools and their teams, and also cant beat the rich coeds to hit on

Petition the NESCAC Presidents to smarten up and give their teams a 9th game, then head up to Middlebury College in VT amidst the foliage of the Green Mountains to watch a revival of Midd vs. Norwich University. VT's only 2 college football teams (until Pres. David Wolk gets it going at Castleton College) squaring off just like they did in the old days! xthumbsupx

D-III

Coast Guard vs. Merchant Marine Academy. @ Coast Guard.

Nice little stadium on the water (New London Sound) the game is commonly referred to as the "little Army vs. Navy game". They usually have a Coast Guard jet and helo flyover before the kickoff. The winning team is presented with the Secretary's Trophy which is awarded by the Secretary of Transportation.

It's not a game you hear much about but a good experience nonetheless.
