Apparently he was told by recruiters at CU that he would compete for the starting spot and got po'ed when they said he'd be red shirted. This could be a big pickup for some team. Maybe GSU since he's from Atlanta.

He'd probably be redshirted at GSU, too. He sure as hell ain't gonna replace Austin and/or Andrews

Assume he was told by recruiters that he would compete for the starting job. Was he really given that chance or was it just a line to get the kid to sign up? Do you think that happens often or do kids and parents hear what they want to hear?
It seems to me if you're going to an established program that's winning your chances of being redshirted are nearly 100%, absent injuries and you should be able to figure that out. Much different situation than if you go to a rebuilding program or one that is just plain bad.
The question is, do you want to start for 4 years on a lesser team or start 2 years on a winning team? Tough to do both, should only happen rarely.

I'm hope the young man, who didn't seem to want to work and compete against others for his position and quit, which means he will probably be a quitter in other areas too, will transfer to another school and get his act together. I also hope that school is NOT Georgia Southern.
