.......touch the cup and jinx the Wild, or just view it, or is it a player thing and the fans can't jinx a team.

Ryan Carter was on the Ducks roster and will be bringing the cup to White Bear Lake, MN, his hometown. It will be on display at the White Bear Sports Center from 5-7, this Friday.

You got to touch Lord Stanley's cup. It could possibly be a once in a lifetime opportunity to touch the most prized trophy in all of sports.

And dont worry about jinxing the Wild, they dont have enough skill players to win it anyway.

I'm considering a similar dilemma, combined with another set of problems.

Andy McDonald is to be bringing the Cup to Colgate on August 11. As an Islanders fan, I have the fortune of a following a team with Cups in the past, however all 4 were won before I was born. Maybe if I just touch the part where their names are, I'll be alright. Unfortunately, I may also have to leave for Texas on or shortly before the 11th. This is hard. :(

Don't miss the chance, Gil. The jinx thing is just plain stupid, anyway. After the Colorado Avalanche won the cup in 1996, Claude Lemieux brought the Cup to Boone, because it was where his wife was from (they are now part-time residents of the community). It was the first time the Cup had ever been to North Carolina (pre-Carolina Hurricanes). Anyway, they displayed it downtown at a place called the Jones House and about 200 people ventured out to see it. I got to cover the event (I was the sports editor of the local newspaper at the time) and it was one of the most fun summer stories I have ever done. My oldest daughter was about four months old and we have a picture of her touching the Cup. It was a once in a lifetime experience. I got to interview the guy whose job was to provide security for the Cup and the whole experience of the Cup coming to Boone was fascinating.

Go see and touch the Cup, Gil. Get your photo taken with it. Enjoy the moment. You may never get a chance to do it again.

I would get my picture next to it, but wouldn't touch the cup. I have too much respect for the guys who have won it & even those who have never won it & therefore will never be able to touch it. I don't think you will be jinxing the Wild if you do decide to feel it up though.

Touch it, kiss it, those rules only apply for the players, fans can go nuts... I got my first taste and touch of Cup in 1999

I saw it at its home in Toronto, sandwiched between two armed guards. It was a religious experience!xnodx

Unless you are actually ON the Wild's roster, it's not a jinx. xthumbsupx

I looked at a house that Marian Gaborik later bought, does that count?

It was a starter home for Gabby.
