Camels out-athlete & out-physical appys as they go on an 83 yd, 14 play, 7+ minute drive to paydirt & take a 7-0 lead with 4:40 left in the 1st. (all camel hooves intact)
appys answer with refs now allowing mountaineer o-line to grab & toss camels by jerseys/helmets/etc. #FBSPrivilege
Camels 7 appys 7 with 0:11 left in 1st

The more athletic, more physical Camels come right back, hit a long pass, then take it in for another rushing TD...but, of course, the hoof assault begins as they miss their 4th XP in 2.3 games.
Campbell 13 - appy 7 with 11:23 to play in the 1st half
FUBeAR
September 26th, 2020, 01:20 PM
Officials try to usher appys into the end zone for potential go-ahead score with bogus Targeting call on 1 of Campbell’s best Defensive Players in the red zone, but more athletic, more physical Camels still hold appys...even after a review of an obviously incomplete 3rd & 15 pass. appys / zebras alliance settles for 3.
Campbell 13 appys 10 with 3:32 remaining in the 1st half

After hoof-mangling Intentional Grounding penalty on Campbell with under 2 minutes to play in half, appys given great field position and score go-ahead TD with 0:24 left in half.
17-13 appys up
EDITED / FOOTNOTE - for the 2nd week in a row, the Campbell Kick Returner just face-planted, untouched. How does that happen? Didn’t hurt ‘em this time as they just ran out the clock, but it’s awful funny to watch...unless you’re a Camel fan.

Yeah we haven't been able to stop them yet. They haven't stopped us either, we stopped us. We have to clean up our penalty issues.

Campbell’s D quit once they went down 2 scores in 2nd half. Same appy team they stoned in 1st half is running at will - now up 45-13 with 9 minutes to play
CIT getting whomped by Colonels 30-14 @ 13:32 in the 3rd

So why didn't the more physical and athletic Camel players show up for the 2d Half?

Great question. Campbell D quit when they went down 2 scores.
The Camels have conditioning issues & appear to have cultural issues on D. Could be a depth problem also - always an 85 vs. 63 challenge that tends to show up in the 2nd half, as I’m sure you know.
Campbell closes out their Fall season with their 4th FBS game against Wake Forest & say they are not playing in the Spring. Their Players will definitely be better because of these 4 games and I’m sure they got a nice financial boost for the program.
They are talented. IF they can fix their propensity to self-destruct, and the issues mentioned above, they will challenge for the Big South title in 2021 & perhaps make some noise in the Playoffs. These issues, while BIG, are fixable.

They’ve actually been pretty consistent. Bad on Offense & spotty on D - front 7 pretty good, but secondary has struggled. DB’s & A-Backs opting out / transferring out is really showing up & killing what they thought was going to be a great Team. They’ll be better in the Spring...but how much better?
Just threw a near Pick 6 as I was typing - EKU with ball on 4 & score 1st play...
37-14 Colonels with 6:22 to play

Good summary. FCS teams have frequently been challenged sustaining performance and matching depth through the 2nd half in FBS games. It will be interesting to see how playing several games in the Fall will compare to a 6-7 game FCS Spring schedule in terms of performance Fall of 2021. I think I'd opt for the FCS Spring schedule, but time will tell.

App was down like 20 players today, so the depth argument shouldn’t be used in this case. They played a lot of freshmen and even switched a few people across positions.

App was down like 20 players today, so the depth argument can’t be used.Yeah...OK...
Which 20 were out?
Were they all scholarship Players?
If not, how many were scholarship Players?
How many did Campbell have out?
Which ones?
Scholarship Players?
Full or Partial Scholarships?
Pretty sure the answer is “Dunno”....
...but this article tells us some of that story... https://journalnow.com/sports/college/asu/players-missing-from-app-state-depth-chart-for-game-against-campbell/article_77022502-0009-11eb-b348-bb14d42be31a.html
...says it’s 18 Players...by FUBeAR’s count, it’s 10 off the 2-deep....but that just raises more questions...
10 off the 2-Deep...OK...what is the usual number of Players that might drop off a 2 deep from week-to-week...I would bet it’s at least 4 or 5. Does that number increase, typically, when an FBS Team plays an FCS Team. I bet it does, in most cases. So, let’s say that delta is usually 3....Now we’re up to 7 or 8 being ‘normal’ and for App today, it was 10. Well, we still don’t know anything about Campbell’s depth chart changes or Covid issues. We could probably do some research & find some answers, but I think the point is pretty clear ...
the “depth argument” CAN be used any time an FBS Team plays an FCS Team.

As I understand it everyone gets a covid/medical redshirt this year so Zappe will still have a year of eligibility. Whether he goes to the League, transfers to a FBS school or hangs with HBU for another year is open to question.
