And a streak comes to an end. If Baltimore was banking on adding some prospects in a Tejada trade this july, forget it. If Tejada was hoping to someday challenege Cal Ripkens consecutive games played streak, forget it. It all came to a end.
-----------------------------------------
SAN DIEGO -- The tests appear to be in, and the results appear to be dire. ESPN.com reported late Thursday night that Miguel Tejada has suffered a fractured left wrist, an injury that will likely end his consecutive games streak. Tejada, who has played in 1,152 consecutive games, could be out for two months or more.
Tejada was hit by a pitch late in Wednesday's game, and initial X-rays didn't show any broken bones. There was enough concern, however, to send him to the hospital for further testing. Tejada and interim manager Dave Trembley both denied any knowledge of the test results Thursday after Baltimore's 6-3 win over San Diego.

that is one situation that is too bad... and i include the blue jays and devil rays in there because they also never have a chance with the way things are currently going because the sox and yanks are too good and too rich for them to compete

MLB needs a salary cap, even as a Sox fan I know that.

The same Blue Jays team that finished in 2nd over Boston last season? The same Devil Rays team that is literally 1 or 2 good pitchers away from being legitmately a very scary team (they already hold the title of most athletic/most freakishly good young talent)? Baseball is about managing and making the most of your resources, and Toronto and Tampa are doing that pretty well. Same in Minnesota (although Pohlad certainly could afford to splurge a bit on his roster), Oakland, Colorado, Florida (in spite of their owner xnonono2x ).
The problem in Baltimore is that the franchise is stuck in neutral, with no plan to move forward and no direction to suggest that they even could. It's the same problem the Royals have had for the last several years. Those kinds of problems cannot be solved by a salary cap, and in some cases can even be made worse by them. People love to dump on the Yankees for "buying titles" and "ruining the game", while at the same time jumping on their necks when the money spent (and there is quite a bit of it) doesn't result in the World Series title they are aiming for. Either money is the only arbiter of a team's ability to compete, in which case why play the game, or there's something else at work.
By the way, during a good portion of Angelos' tenure as Orioles owner, especially in the earlier years, he had little to no problem with competing for the big name, big money free agents and spending his cash on the roster.

Tampa only looks decent in the standings right now cause nearly midway through the season they have yet to play Boston who usually beats up on them, its gonna be a rough second half for them.

C'mon. Anyone following baseball in the AL East for the last 2 decades knows that the Orioles have spent the money. They have the stadium and resources. They used to fill Camden every game and tickets used to be a hot commodity around there. The Orioles used to be competitive but aren't anymore because Peter Angelos is an absolute idiot and had his son running the organization. They are one of the most poorly run organizations in baseball. Angelos is stubborn and only recently has gotten help elsewhere when he hired Andy McPhail.
Its not about how much money you spend but how you spend it.

Bingo!!!!!!
Unless the Red Sox are making incredible money from their TV deal with NESN, then there is absolutely no reason why the Orioles with Camden Yards can't compete with the Red Sox financially. The Red Sox charge obscene amounts for tickets to overcome their small capacity and need to compete with the Yankees.

They are #10 in payroll and one of the worst teams in baseball. They have spent the big bucks and they still stink. They deserve no pity.
