If ou are already a registered voter then you do not need to, nor should you, sign up for the 2020 AGS Poll. You are already included.

If you were a voter in 2018 and had to duck out last season then please just respond in this thread and I will add you back in.

If you have not voted in the past couple of years or ever and you would like to join in the fun with us then you will need to click the link below and follow the very simple instructions. You give your username and the email and if you meet the criteria I will contact you and add you to our strong voter list for the upcoming season.

You need to have been here for a year.

You need to have 100 posts.

Or you need to sign up and I will contact you to see if you will be close enough by the beginning of the season to let you in the group. Very few that want to join are left out so sign up if you feel like it is something you want to do.

We don't need to have any discussions about whether we will have a season or a need to vote. If we don't then we'll shut it down at that point but for now we move forward as if it is a going concern.

By the way the preseason poll will open up for voters on Jul 27, 2020 and it will close on Aug 3, 2020 barring announcements on season from NCAA.

If we participate in the preseason poll and then the season is canceled/postponed, is that considered “Poll Perfection” for this year? [emoji848][emoji6]

If this season does not complete and a voter votes in every available vote then hell yes, they were perfect. If a person skips the preseason vote this year though then they are out for perfection. I will not take anything away from anyone this year though no matter what. Too f'd up a year to expect that anyone should regress this season. You can only advance.

Ursus,

Is there a central clearinghouse list of schools who are NOT eligible for the preseason poll?

With all the changes I’ve sorta lost the bubble on them. Thank you.

There isn't a list of ineligible, but there IS a list of all teams with games currently scheduled (and how many each team has) in this thread.

So, if a team isn't playing enough games this season to make them eligible for the playoffs, then they should not be in the poll?

So, if a team isn't playing enough games this season to make them eligible for the playoffs, then they should not be in the poll?

If you already ignored teams that don't participate in the playoffs (SWAC, Ivy) the answer would probably be a "Yes."

All fall sports other than football have been given a reduction in the number of required games to be eligible for post-season play, so we don't yet know what the playoff eligibility threshold will be (IF there is indeed a playoffs to be eligible for).

The playoffs should not have anything to do with the AGS Poll as far as putting together your ballot.

As far as the teams that are playing though I think I'm just going to try to assess who is worthy or a slot in the ballot and at some points there isn't gonna be enough to place them in or maybe keep them in. It is gonna be a tough situation on a lot of these teams. Also, I give a playoff a very small chance of happening anyway so that is another reason it should not go into who we are ranking in my head.

A good example of this is Elon, who as of yesterday has 4 games scheduled.

Week 1 - The Citadel - we'll have information to rank or not rank the Phoenix.
Week 2 - Duke - we'll have some real data.
Week 3 - Campbell - possibly able to confirm or refute any bias we have developed.
Week 4 - no game so they probably stay at about the same level.
Weeks 5-9 - no games so there's no current information to assess, allowing what may have been a ranked team to drop out of the poll.
Week 10 - JMU - how would you treat an unranked team that beats the Dukes (hypothetically)?

Well for me I guess that one is a tough one as all will be but I'd be inclined to move them down if others are playing and doing good but I would doubt there is enough data out there that would eliminate them over that span IF they have had an impressive start. So they would still be in I'd bet and even if low they then go and beat JMU which is assumed to be highly ranked they recover all of the lost spots and then some I would think.

That is really weird. If I past the link inside the original quoted post it takes you to an error page. If I just post the link it works. Try that link out TC.
