That was some exciting stuff down the stretch, Tiger's putting just wasn't there when he needed it.

It's amazing the difference in Tiger between when he's leading going into Sunday and when he's behind. Everyone fears him so much, but if he's down, he doiesn't handle the pressure of coming back very well. Maybe he's not as great as he (and everyone else) thinks.

I would argue that there's way more pressure when holding a lead than chasing one. I think most pro-golfers would agree.

I would much rather see Tiger get beat a few times in the big ones like this. It keeps golf a little more interesting with somebody OTHER than the juggernaut winning the title.

Agreed. About as much fun as when Tyson was at his peak. :( :p

Great tournament finale yesterday! Baddeley choked big time. I felt bad for him at the end. I guess thats what you get for wearing train conductor pants!

I was rooting for Furyk to tie it up on the 17th. Too bad. I too enjoy seeing tiger lose occasionally.

^^ Me too...I used to root for him in the beginning but it just was too much the whole all Tiger all the time. I thought it was media overkill. I mean I'm reading articles about other tournments and it is like "Tiger 13 behind" Enuf!

Just one more thing to add to the "If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck ..." :p

Anyone see him light up a smoke before teeing off on 15 or 16? Funny.

Anybody know how many times Jack came from behind to win on Sunday?

Even if it is one, that should cement his status as being the best ever....for now.

I agree totally. There were some knuckleheads that wouldn't buy it though on the Greatest Golfer thread.

In 25 years... give Tiger 15 more years and we can revisit this. xrolleyesx

So, in 15 years, you seriously think Tiger is going to get 15 more second place finishes AND all the victories he'd need to tie or go ahead?

Not me. Tigers good. But he's not "Jack" good. xrotatehx xrotatehx xrotatehx xrotatehx

I think he'll have more wins and fewer seconds... but does anyone really care about seconds? Isn't that called first loser? xeyebrowx

Well, if your definition of "greatest golfer" is purely # of majors, Tiger will probably edge ahead of Jack in that department eventually (assuming he has the lead on Sunday, since he's 0-29 when trying to come from behind!!!!! HA!!!!!). But in every other aspect, he can't carry the jock of The Golden Bear. xsmhx xsmhx xsmhx xsmhx

However, in the catagory that counts, the ratings for the final round were much higher than last years Sunday round.

Never said it was. But you're trying to compare a 25 year career with a 10 year one. That in itself ought to give you an inkling of who might end up as the 'greatest golfer'.

BTW, you have to understand that I am no Tiger fan.

Let's see, at least 15 more years, 4 majors per year, I think he'll manage to stage a comeback victory one of these days.

Pure speculation here, but if Tiger had played during Jack's era his talent would have been showcased to a higher degree. The driver and ball of today has evened things out among the top 100 players in the world. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind, or Jack's for that matter, that Eldrick Woods will leave the game as the greatest ever. xtwocentsx

Give me a break...The guy has finished either first or second in the last four straight majors! (two each). There isn't another player on the planet with such consistency of excellence. This is like a .400 hitter in baseball having a stretch of hitting 'only' .350...xrotatehx

One thing that has people revisiting the 'sport' definition of golf---here's Tiger in fighting trim, pipes ripping through his shirt losing to a guy with his gut hanging over his belt and bragging how he went through half a pack of cigarettes during the final round!!xrotatehx xlolx
