In the summer of 1980 six Dartmouth alums were in position to represent the United States at the 1980 Olympics. It was 40 years ago that President Jimmy Carter announced that the United States would boycott the Olympic Games in response to Russia's attacks on Afghanistan. In that moment, these six alumni, their teammates and all of Team USA lost the chance to compete at the highest level of sport, at the top of their game.
