Margaret (Landberg) Ludick had visions of being an Olympic swimmer growing up, swimming with her older sisters at her local White Bear Lake, Minnesota YMCA. That vision changed when in eighth grade a friend on the middle school track team was looking for someone to run with, so Ludick joined the track team. While she continued to swim and run on the track team she had to make a decision her junior year when her track coach encouraged her to run cross-country (XC). Swimming and XC were both fall sports and she made the decision to drop swimming and be a full time runner. Ludick says she joined the XC team and "never looked back".
