Best and Worst Helmets for your team (Pictures Please!)

With the SI story on the worst uniforms, I was wondering about what some thought about their teams best and worst helmet designs. I know some teams helmet designs may not have changed but some of the color changes have provoked outrages at some schools in the past. Don't forget that tremendous website that has all of the helmet designs which I have forgotten the link for in this senior moment. Look forward to hearing from a wide range of schools on this one.

there are probably 100's of high schools in america who wear Penn states helmets and unis for practicexrolleyesx give me a break they are so plain and ugly!

WSU is original, along with Towson, Rutgers needs a make over, that block R looks like it was made in a 9th grade geometry class.

The style is significant because it is classic, instantly known and means something to everyone involved. Anyone can slap a goofy sticker on the side of a helmet, but when a helmet is one color or very simple and still instantlly known that is an accomplishment. It serves as a piece of tradition, although simply designed. We all know Penn State, Alabama, Notre Dame, Georgia Southern, And the Cleveland Browns helmets. All very simple yet powerful as they have been teh same forever and invoke passions, memories, and tradition. i'll take that over a gawdy sticker and ugly colors.

Intersting catbob, given my dislike of the script nickname, I'd reverse the best and worst... I'd actually give the best nod to your current. I think MSU has some of the best overall unis in I-AA. They are one of the few color on color's that I like when you wear blue on blue. That old helmet reminds me of the old Wisconsin helmets with the W on the front. I kinda like that because it's different... maybe also because it's closer to a winged helmet. xsmiley_wix

well ya and Lehigh, although you have changed the helemts a bit as the LU sticker used to adorn the sides. I will say you guys do about as good a job as possible with brown and white xlolx. I hope Lafayette sticks with their current helemts for a while to build a bit of tradition with them, although i did love the late 90's versions with the siler and the maroon leopard head.

The concept helmets on that website are all pretty good. I really like the Holy Cross and Virginia concepts. The NC State on is kinda interesting as well. As for App's concept helmet, nobody should mess with the block A. xthumbsupx

I like the Albany, Dayton, Lehigh, Maine, Sac State, and UT Martin concepts.

Most of the "concepts" are just the logo the AD uses on a helmet. Not sure how that's creative.

East Central Oklahoma State's colors are about the same as Oklahoma St, orange, black and white, and they are the Tigers. Pretty ugly helment.xnodx

I just really think the Pride and logo work great together. It took me a few times to really realize what it was, but they did a great job when they redid their logo. Most teams come out with a bad cartoonish mascot and ruin it a lot of times. They did a great job.
