A cross-town rivalry is born.

Duke and N.C. Central have announced they will square off in men's and women's basketball and share a home-and-home baseball series in the 2007-08 season.

While the Blue Devils' and Eagles' men's basketball teams have met in exhibition games at Duke's Cameron Indoor Stadium the past three seasons -- each handily won by NCAA Division I powerhouse Duke over its then-Division II foe -- they've never met in a regular-season game.

NCCU's impending move to NCAA Division I opened the door to regular-season meetings, since the games will now count toward NCAA Tournament selection. Interdivisional wins by the higher, Division I team are not counted by the tournament selection committee, while losses to a lower division team detract from a team's profile.

The men's basketball teams will play Nov. 9 at Cameron.
