ESPN has reported the Billy Donovan is possibly trying to get out of his contract with the Magic to return to Florida. While i think he should coach at Florida there's a trend developing with people have second thoughts after accepting a new job.

If he returns, he better make sure he gets everything he wants because no one else is likely to take him after this.

Ah the memories. I recall Jim Harrick doing something like this to us:
1. Harrick leaves URI to accept job at UGA.
2. (A few hours later) Harrick changes mind, decides to stay at URI.
3. (A few minutes later) Harrick changes mind AGAIN, will leave URI for UGA.
Donovan should have stayed at UF. But he's made the (bad) choice to take the reigns with the Magic and he should DO IT! If he finds out the NBA isn't for him then I'm sure he'll end up back in college.

Don't be so sure. Providence College (his alma mater) would LOVE to hire him. No matter what.

After back to back NC's, I'm sure he's got some UF boosters offering him whatever he wants. I know I'd rather have a college job anyday over a pro position.

Orlando is trying to convince him to stay
My question is WHY? Why would you want a guy that can't make a decision and live with it? Hell, why want a guy that really doesn't want to be there?

They want a new arena and they want to sell tickets. Having Billy Donovan would help them in both those areas. Probably moreso than any other coach on their list.

Because he can win. They'd probably take Phil Jackson (if they could afford him) because he can win, even though he's generally a cancer starter who is madly in love with himself.

Exactly.
Supposedly Donavan's wife was concerned about moving their 4 kids to Orlando and that is weighing on Donavan. The rumor around these parts is that Stan Van Gundy is just waiting on them to officially offer him.

I wouldn't want a coach that didn't really want to be there. How much of an argument is that for a new arena. "Hey, we got a new coach and he's good, but he's not really sold on our city or team. Give us a new stadium"

Why in the world would they need to move? It's 114 freaking miles from Orlando to Gainesville. And Gainesville ain't no damned picnic...I got stranted there once and thought I might not make it out.... Besides, he'd be gone half the time anyways....That's a weak-ass reason if I've ever heard one.
If they hire SVG, they'll continue to be mired in mediocrity for the next 10 years. xnodx xnodx xnodx xnodx xnodx

No question about it... everything you wrote is spot on. The tragic had written a condominium into the contract so the family would have a free place (like he can't afford a house on $5mm/yr) to stay.
The latest rumor around these parts is that the tragic are wanting the xxxturd Donavan to sign what amounts to a non-compete clause where they will let him out of his legally binding contract he signed if he agreees not to take any other NBA job for 5 years.
Meanwhile they raised our ticket prices yet again... my seats, which are two on the aisle 11 rows up behind the visitors bench- and cost $29/seat/game in 1989- are now $110/seat/game for the upcoming season. Unfreakingbelievable...
