Season opened today, so I thought I'd get this started for the handful of FCS people who also like to follow collegiate lacrosse. Lehigh opened the season with a preseason ranking of #19 with a 16-11 over the University of Utah. The Utes are in their second season of DI competition, but have a good number of transfers and a veteran coach so it was a good team to open against to work in game conditions. A 'brisk' day on South Mountain with temps in the mid-30's and a 10-15 mph wind. Next week the Mountain Hawks travel to take on the defending national champions and preseason #1, UVA, in Charlottesville.

The season actually started last week, which I know because Colgate got thumped by North Carolina, 19-6

Followed that up yesterday by losing at Syracuse, 21-14

Rough start to the year, doesn't get easier as we go to Princeton on the 18th for a Tuesday (?) game

Raiders were picked 8th of 9 teams in the preseason poll, so expectations not terribly high to start Karweck's 2nd season

Keeping up with Ivy League tradition of starting later than everyone else, #3 Yale opens against Villanova next Saturday.

Lehigh travels to #1 Virginia this Saturday. A 'decent' measuring stick.

Lehigh dug itself an early hole and ended up losing to UVA 12-8. Can't tell if Cav's took foot off the gas or whether we righted the ship and played them pretty evenly the last three quarters. So now, 1-1, on the season, Mountain Hawks host VMI this coming Thursday. then off to NJIT on Saturday, before Patriot League play kicks in on 2/29 hosting Navy. Always and hard fought match.

Colgate loses 20-11 to Princeton. Looks like the game fell apart in the 3rd quarter, when the Tigers outscored the 'Gate 8-1

0-3 so far, a little bit easier though with a trip to Hobart on Saturday

Hey, Cit, it's a heck of a game. Combination of the movement and strategy of ice hockey with hitting. Fast growing sport in the US. The those schools south of North Carolina need to join the fun!

Colgate loses again, back and forth game at home against BU. Led by as many as 4 in the 3rd quarter before giving it up in the 4th. Down to Navy next Saturday.

After a slow start, Lehigh down 4-5 went on to drub the Middies, 14-6 in Bethlehem to open up Patriot League play and move to 4-1 on the season.

In my day, Hobart was a National D-I lax power.

For the second week in a row, Lehigh stormed back in the second half, trailing 7-9, to beat Holy Cross, 15-10, at Goodman complex. Lehigh now ranked #17 will travel to #15 Army next Saturday for a big league showdown. Lehigh showing a lot of fire power early this year with three players having hat-tricks yesterday. Mountain Hawks now 6-1 on the season.

The Ivy League has cancelled all the spring sports bringing to an end what may have been the greatest LAX season in Ivy League history. Right now 3 Ivy League teams rank in the top 5 in the country.

This weekend would have been the LAX quarterfinals. It would have been interesting to see how many Ivy teams would have been playing with a chance to go to the final four.

Yes, Lehigh had high hopes this year for winning the PL or getting a wild card. Will be interesting to see how many of the seniors will stick around to use the extra year of eligibility in '21.

That's a shame....and not a good sign for the school.
