With a tip of the cap to OL FU and Mountaineer for putting together the info in this thread (http://www.anygivensaturday.com/showthread.php?84328-OL-FU-s-Best-of-Playoffs-2010) for 2010 and previous years I added totals for the last 9 years.

I used Mountaineer's point system:

A first round game is worth 5 points.
A second round game is worth 10 points.
A quarterfinal game is worth 15 points.
A semifinal game is worth 20 points.
A championship game is worth 25 points.
Winning the championship game is worth an additional 25 points.

Therefore the totals that could be earned throughout the years are as follows:

1978 - 1980: Semis/Finals (4 Teams) - 70 Points
1981 - Quarters/Semis/Finals (8 Teams) - 85 Points
1982 - 1985: First/Quarters/Semis/Finals (12 Teams) - 95 Points
1986 - 2009: First/Quarters/Semis/Finals (16 Teams) - 95 Points
2010 - 2012: First/Second/Quarters/Semis/Finals (20 Teams) - 100 Points
2013 - present: First/Second/Quarters/Semis/Finals (24 Teams) - 100 Points

Here's a look at the current top 50 along with the change in rankings since 2009:

A 500 point lead over the last ten years.....insane

That's what an FBS team playing in the FCS looks like folks

In the 2010s they're tied for 28th (with App St ironically enough) with 45 points.

I haven't really looked at your algorithm, but like UCA they are 2-5 with 5 playoff appearances.

UCA has 15 extra points because they've never been eliminated in the 1st round in their 5 appearances whereas San Diego has been 3 times. Getting to the 2nd round, even by virtue of getting a bye due to being seeded, gets an extra 5 points over being in the first round.

Great work Professor Chaos, et all for prior data !!!

Kind of amazing how much crap SHSU has taken on this forum over the years, and they finished 3rd using this system.

Also amazing there are 8 Colonial teams in the top 20 for this decade .. though I have been known to have an opinion or 2 about that ... xnodx .. nod to Marty !
