Here's the article for the final top 25 article of the season: http://thefcswedge.com/ags-poll/ags-poll-final-2019-top-25-results/

After a quick glance my biggest criticism is an old one: why is Kennesaw St ahead of Monmouth??? Both won a playoff game and lost in the 2nd round but Monmouth still has the dominating win at Kennesaw in the regular season. The playoffs can carry too much weight in these final polls IMO especially when the teams in question only played one or two playoff games to 12 regular season games.

Good poll.

UCA plays SEC Missouri first game next season. Then they play #8 Austin Peay (who UCA beat AT APSU last year), then #11 Nicholls State (Fourcade will be gone ). Tough way to start the year but I'm sure they will be ready. Should help in the preseason polls though.

why are you so obsessed with Kennesaw State? The reason the Owls are ranked higher than the Hawks is because KSU went toe to toe with Weber State. Every rational, coherent college football knows Kennesaw State beats Monmouth with Jonathan Murphy starting at QB.

Go ahead, take another toke. They whipped you on your home field -- and it wasn't as close as the score indicated.

Because they are and have been consistently overrated all season ever after they were dumptrucked by Monmouth. Going toe-to-toe and losing to Weber St is find but when that's the main reason you're ranking a team ahead of someone that beat them by 30 at home your logic is paper thin flimsy. I actually had Kennesaw at 15th in my poll ballot which isn't too far off of where the consensus had them but I had Monmouth 4 spots above the consensus.

For full disclosure this is what I had:

1: North Dakota State Bison

You could argue Stony Brook should be ahead of both of them in that case. Monmouth had wins over Albany and Kennesaw St which are both better than any win Nova picked up this year.

Just a couple of end-of-the-season thoughts:

1. Congratulations to North Dakota State on a season that exceeded most people's (or at least NDSU fans') expectations.

2. Congratulations to James Madison on a season where they were two snaps away from sending the championship game to OT. I feel like JMU had the momentum, and it might have been difficult to match them in OT. This particular Bison fan is glad that didn't happen. But again, kudos to JMU on their season.

3. I am curious as to the last time a championship game went to OT. A cursory search suggests never, but perhaps some old-timers on here would have better insight into this.

4. Two playoff teams did not make my top 25 - Holy Cross and Furman. This was not a Paladin disrespect thing. It was more of a manner of 1st round loss, combined with losing to Wofford during the season followed by Wofford barely cracking my top 25 thing.

5. Speaking of Wofford, South Carolina State did not make my poll. This had more to do with how Wofford finished, how the Terriers played against Kennesaw, and how Kennesaw showed vs. Weber State (I know, a bit transitive). I am really hoping that South Carolina State has some "prove-it" in them against Wofford next year, and can beat the likes of Florida A&M and North Carolina A&T. They'll likely be Celebration Bowl-bound then, but either way, they won't be snubbed. Since I had NCAT at #25, could not justify to myself putting SCST in (just out).

6. I have Southern Illinois at #16, but in thinking about this further, I could see them being a little lower (but not much).

7. I ranked Eastern Washington, because I think they were on the cusp of figuring it out at the end of the season. However, I feel that not playing Montana State, Weber State, UC Davis hurt them, as a win against one of these could have helped their case. Well next year, they get Montana, Montana State, Weber State, and UC Davis (along with Florida), so if they win 7 next year, they will be in. Period.

8. Finally, a big shout out and thank you to ursus, supe (for How They Fared), and all the others that make the AGS Poll possible and as rigorous and reputable as it is. I have enjoyed voting in it and posting my rankings for criticism and discussion. Looking forward to next year.

Patsies? Can't tell if serious.... Albany is the consensus #17 team in the final poll. Not world beaters, but a decent enough team with a damn good QB. Austin Peay went to Sac State and beat the very same Hornets that beat the brakes off the Grizzlies. Pretty unreasonable to put the team that went farther in the playoffs and had a DOMINANT win head to head on the last week of the regular season behind the other.

Thank you to the one voter who voted for McNeese (it wasn't me).

For those of you who know (and for those of you who don't), the McNeese head coach Sterlin Gilbert submitted his resignation Sunday to head to Syracuse as OC. What a lovely fellow! In this turmoil of losing the head coach and other assistant coaches plus players who will transfer and signed recruits from December who may change their minds, who knows what will happen, but it may be sometime before the Cowboys crack the Top 40 again for some time.

McNeese will be ineligible for the playoffs this 2020 season due to not meeting the APR standards. This was not due to the one who just absconded to Syracuse, but due to the previous coach. Gilbert was aware of this when he was hired.

Anyway, hopefully McNeese will name a new coach soon and salvage something of this program. Prayers appreciated!

Let me join in in thanking Ursus and Supe and everyone who makes this forum the GOAT that it is!

In a word .. no. They are the 3rd best MEAC team. I can see NC A&T in top 25, and then maybe FL A&M getting top 25 votes, but landing just outside the top 25. But not SC State.

Thanks. I didn’t pay much attention to SC State last season. Truth be told, I had forgotten they existed. They’ve always been mediocre, IMO.

I grew up a Citadel fan and have continued to follow them...more so now that Coastal is in the Sun Belt.

why are you so obsessed with Kennesaw State? The reason the Owls are ranked higher than the Hawks is because KSU went toe to toe with Weber State. Every rational, coherent college football knows Kennesaw State beats Monmouth with Jonathan Murphy starting at QB.

Idaho and North Dakota also went toe to toe with Weber. Where should they be ranked? To be fair, neither were down 45-7 at home all season, so maybe higher than Kennesaw?

I didn't realize Jonathan Murphy also played defense? I guess I learn something new every day, especially as a rational, coherent football fan.
