View Full Version : FCS Stadiums You Have Been To
McNeese72
January 8th, 2020, 02:53 PM
Just for curiosity's sake list the FCS stadiums at which you have attended a game.
Here is my list as far as I can remember. I am only including schools that are FCS now and not the ones whose stadium I have been to when they were FCS/I-AA but have moved up.
McNeese
Abilene Christian
Central Arkansas
Houston Baptist
Incarnate Word
Lamar
Nicholls
Northwestern St
Sam Houston
Southeastern La.
Stephen F. Austin
Alcorn St.
Weber St.
South Dakota St.
Montana
Portland St.
Southern Utah
Southern
Youngstown St.
Grambling
Prairie View (Note: Was at the Astrodome. I hope we eventually schedule a home and home with them again as I would like to see their new stadium)
Jacksonville St.
Chattanooga (Note: Was for the National Championship game in 2002 against Western Kentucky)
There could be one or two I forgot. This list would pale compared to my tailgate buddy, Chris Buchannan, as he has been to every McNeese home and away for 499 straight games (dating back to sometime in the mid-70's). Next game at ULL will be his 500th successive game. So, he has been to every FCS away game since we went FCS/I-AA.

This is a remarkable list. Mine will be dwarfed in comparison...

It's too bad roadwarrior from Bisonville isn't on this forum.... he might have to break his list up into multiple posts. He hasn't missed a Bison football game, home or away, since the 80s (God willing he should hit his 500th consecutive game in the 2021 regular season).

My list is relatively short, mainly because I follow the NFL more closely and will not go to random DI-AA/FCS (or lower level) games that do not involve teams I root for (I will do so for DI-A/FBS games when traveling to visit my family or I’m visiting an area for another game).
*Lehigh
*Lafayette
*Penn
*Villanova
*Georgetown
*Towson
*Delaware
I’ve also been to games for the following DI-A/FBS teams when they’ve hosted DI-AA/FCS teams, and one stadium for a neutral site game between two DI-AA/FCS teams:
*Temple (also have been there for all DI-A/FBS games)
*Navy (also have been there for all DI-A/FBS games)
*Yankee Stadium III
As for other levels of post-high school football:
*DI-A/FBS: 16 (one of which was a non-official neutral site, non-bowl game venue stadium)
*D2: 3
*D3: 2
*NFL: 9 (counting MetLife Stadium twice for both the Giants and Jets)

Why were you at UNH?I was on my way to Portsmouth Brewery and Cape Elizabeth (I was staying in Boston for a week) and I wanted to take the 20 minute detour to say I got to see one of the premier stadiums in not just the CAA but in the FCS. UNH is a staple of FCS football and so I had to take the trip up the road.
I talked with a local officer who saw my NDSU gear and he asked if I was looking at Grad School and I had instead mentioned how I wanted to see the stadium and walk around. We talked football for a few minutes and then went our separate ways.

I guess losing to Yale in 87 soured your opinion of the Yale Bowl. 😉 Would really love to see another series between Yale and William & Mary as they are two of the oldest colleges in the nation. It’s been way too long since they’ve last played each other. I would love to make the trip down to Williamsburg to see that game and Zable Stadium.

Actually, I didn't make that game or the Oyster Bowl game.
i went to the Yale Bowl twice recently though, once for a Harvard game and another against Holy Cross. What soured my opinion were the splintered seats though the historic setting made it worthwhile.
Would love to see W&M and Yale sign another series.

Georgetown....when the field was on the roof
All these years and you never ventured to the never ending Multi Sport Facility construction project?
The reference to Kehoe Field harkens back to 1996, when I was behind some HC fans entering what passed as the gate (actually, a set of concrete stairs leading up to the second story field). I heard the dejection in their voice when they said "We used to play at Army and BC... and here we are."

Planning on going to see Yale play Mercer at Mercer in 2021
My nephew lives in GA. I'm thinking about going to the Mercer game myself.

You get the prize for traveling the farthest to see Yale. Can’t get any farther from Connecticut than Hawaii for football.
Flew home from Hawaii the following Friday and went to the game against W & M the next day with serious jet lag. I have trouble sleeping on a plane and had been up for more than 36 hours. At that time, I hadn't missed a game, home or away for over 10 years, so I had to go.

What I have learned over my visits, and I will include FBS stadiums that is several, is, a lot of schools have an inflated number for seating capacity... I'm just sayin...

What years did you go to those games at the Yale Bowl? They began replacing seats in 2016. It’s much better now.

Just saw this thread and wanted to add my list. Sorry, but my list includes places I've attended games and stadiums that I visited in my travels. And it includes schools that were FCS when I attended or visited. I go out of my way to visit FCS schools in my travels, some on FBS game trips, some on UNH MBB game trips and some on vacation trips. Also saw the Dakota Dome in Vermillion, SD but didn't get inside so I didn't list it.
