Indy 500 heading towards a great finish

For those not watching, this has been a great race and is heading towards a great finish, with rain moving in again.

So they did restart..

yes they did...after 3 hours...they are at 150 of 200

They just had a caution when Marty Roth hit the wall (a lot of accidents on guys getting up too high and hitting the wall today). Tony Kanaan has been the fastest all day and is ahead of Sam Hornish Jr., Dario Franchitti and Danica Patrick, who just schooled Dan Whealdon with a great move. Lap 153.

Kanaan might have run over some debris and may have tire issues when they restart. Rain appears to be close, maybe 15 minutes away. Going to be a great finish.

Most of the leaders are pitting on caution, but Franchitti is staying out.

Kanaan got hit on the restart and somehow saved the car from a crash with just a flat tire. He must have got tangled with Jacques Lazier, who started 27th, made it to first and then had run out of gas.

An awful wreck with Marco Andretti, who went upside down when he collided with Buddy Rice and Dan Whealdon on the restart. It is amazing, but Andretti is walking away from this horrific accident.

The rain is hitting in Turn Four and Franchitti looks like he is going to win.

Pouring down rain with 166 laps complete. Franchitti becomes the first Scotsman to win at Indy since the great Jim Clark.

How does a Scotsman get a name like Franchitti??? Regardless, that was some smart driving strategy with the rain approaching. Glad to see Marco Andretti wasn't hurt in that horrific crash. Really tells you how well they're protected in those vee-hickles....;)
