Sure, but the "2010s" started with 2010. The "2020s" will start with 2020. Even if the new decade doesn't technically start until 2021, you'll be out of sync with reality with others discussing the 2020s if you don't start until 2021.

Not even technically correct if you're referring to decades by the tens place of years. Only if your starting point of counting decades is Jan 1, in the year 1 C.E.

the calendar is also a man-made device that isn’t without flaw and the one we use was created in the 1500s.

you can count your decades ordinally, whilst the majority of folks do their cardinally. There’s no right or wrong answer because the legal definition of a decade is “a period of 10 years”

My resolution: Stay off the political board. It usually doesn't reflect how I perceive the world or how I treat others. I apologize to even my liberal posters for that. Besides, there's off-season football in Spring camps and recruiting to talk about! Let's focus on that!
