Yeah, I think that's the reason why they kick it off so early. Would really help if it was an hour or two later for those of us there to get a good tailgate in but it is what it is... plenty of time after the game at least.

When NDSU first joined the FCS my "Carthago delenda est" was "the championship game must be moved in time and space" because I didn't like the location (too far off center) and didn't like the time (Friday after semis and right before Christmas) which would have made a travel nightmare for most NDSU fans.

Now, the FCS did not only that but now are even putting the game on ABC (which I also wished for but never seriously thought would happen!) Awesome! For one thing, the FCS championship won't be delayed by, say, a terrible high school basketball game this time.

I'm going to see if I get my next FCS wish (they usually come in threes, after all): I think it would be awesome if the DIII, DII, and FCS championship games were all happening this coming weekend, not all in the same venue, mind you, but in consecutive time slots to form a real Championship Saturday, the way the gods of football have always intended.

I've thought this too, but in my scenario there would be one game Friday night (DIII), one game Saturday 11am or noon (DII), and one game Saturday at 6 or 7pm (FCS). Agree that they would still be at different venues, but I do like the idea of all 3 being on one weekend.

Ticket prices on the secondary market have been down compared to previous years for this entire cycle since the semis. Never really saw a point where panic set in since there were always flash seats available for around $100 or cheaper. Definitely kind of perplexing since these are two of the best drawing teams in the subdivision. Perhaps the novelty is wearing off a bit with these two fan bases since both saw attendance declines at playoff home games this year compared to previous years. Two years ago they sold 1000+ standing room tickets for this game between the same two teams. This year I doubt they'll sell more than 100.

It's also a bigger risk to buy early since ticket prices have almost tripled in the last 8 years now. I can recall for the 2012 title game (NDSU/SHSU #2) and earlier they still had a "Family 4 Pack" deal or something like that where $100 got you 4 game tickets and 4 vouchers for a hot dog and soda. Now face value is $75-$85 per ticket and with fees pretty much every seat is $90 or more at cost.

Interesting that the betting lines, for the most part, had been creeping in JMU's favor the last 2 weeks have done a U-turn in the last 12-24 hours with the Vegas consensus and 5dimes now having this game as a pick 'em. Some sandbagging Bison bettors perhaps??? I also heard that most Vegas books have a $1000 winning ticket max for these kind of games up until the last 48 hours or so before the game when they raise that max... so the lines can really shift in a hurry between now and kickoff as the big money bets come rolling in.

Don't have to rack up 6 sacks or anything (cause the Bison don't give up sacks very often), just get there enough to cause him to throw too soon or too late. If we can do that, then our pretty average secondary looks a lot better. If not, we're in some trouble.

And we gotta stop with the bonehead penalties. Two stupid late hits against Weber, one leading directly to the Wildcats 1st touchdown. Can't see NDSU letting us off the hook on 4th and 30 like Weber did at the end of the 1st half of that game.

On the ticket issue - one other thing is the game feels, and is, reallllly late on the calendar this year (same w FBS game Monday) to me and my group flying out tomorrow. The 11th is the latest game ever and only the '14 and '15 games were even on the 9th or 10th. In 17 and 18 it felt like just an extension of the Holiday season, especially in terms of taking PTO not being a problem and families still in that mode. This year it definitely feels like more of a production and kind of a weird time to be taking off. Guess T'giving was late too and pushed everything back this year but would really prefer them to play it the first January weekend even if it conflicts with bowl games.

And since we're getting called out for not talking enough smack on here, I'll venture out on the limb. Finally got a chance to really settle down and watch NDSU/MSU last night and all I can say is it calmed me down a whole lot for the Dukes. I hope hope hope NDSU runs Lance intentionally as much as they did in that game. The speed and physicality on JMU's defense is night and day from MSU. Two big things I think that haven't heard much.

1) I think JMU's two DT's (Green and Atariwa) are the most underrated players on this team. They have a lot to do with all the Carter/Daka highlights and that's gonna be a whole different animal for NDSU to run against than MSU. Plus Holloway/Azanama/Davis at LB all have the speed to move sideline-to-sideline. I'd think NDSU will try to attack Word's side of the defense more if they want to run on the edge (I would).
2) NDSU can be run on by this JMU team. MSU was able to make some plays in the run game early. Obviously anyone that falls behind by three scores like they did has to go away from it, but that Bison D against the run, while physical and tough like always, looks to move a whole lot more at 2016 speed than 2017 speed. JMU's backs now are every bit as good as when Abdullah ran for 180 in the dome and this year's line is healthier (or at least less suspended ha) than that team's.

Specials feel enormous too and overall I just trust Ratke, O'Kelly, and Amos more than their Bison counterparts. I'd say I'm as worried about kickoff coverage as just about anything but I still feel like Cignetti's been holding things back specifically for this game in terms of special teams overall.

Dukes win this going away 31-17.

Oh yeah one more thing, App. St. '08 is still the best JMU game ever.

I think 1 of the 2 units below that have been stellar statistically all year will be exposed in the natty.

Either JMU's offensive pass efficiency (3rd in the FCS at 172.75)
or NDSU's defensive pass efficiency (1st in the FCS at 102.22)

I think it's plausible that the numbers for both of those units have been propped by the fact that they haven't played many elite units on the other side of the ball this year. That won't be the case in Frisco so something has to give.

These teams are so even. I see the difference being JMU's strong run offense against NDSU's 30th-ranked rush D. I don't see a lot of JMU passing in this game, just short passes to Polk and Stapleton in the flat, only to keep the defense honest, then run the ball and force NDSU to stop it. Bison defenders jumping routes is a concern.

Interesting that the betting lines, for the most part, had been creeping in JMU's favor the last 2 weeks have done a U-turn in the last 12-24 hours with the Vegas consensus and 5dimes now having this game as a pick 'em. NDSU relies on Lance heavily. I wouldn't be shocked if they spy him to open up man-coverage. Get Watson 1-on-1 and that's not a good thing for the defense. Same thing could be said NDSU on defense. If Cox spies DiNucci, it's going to be a shootout real quick.
