"NCCU joins social media partnership with Big South"

Sooooo....do they want to play in the FCS playoffs? What's the deal with Hampton and now NCCU, who if I'm not mistaken has been in the MEAC for like less than 10 years, leaving the conference? And there's also word/rumor of A&T thinking of going FBS?

What's going on???

The facebook post about it says the basketball is a hint though. I guess if it's a school joining in all sports it could include basketball, but it doesn't really look like they're going that route.

A&T is doing a study. We aren't going anywhere unless the MEAC was to fold. More than likely A&T and NCCU would be a package deal.

Hampton left because of several issues. The man thing is they wanna join the CAA (but they deny it ) and join those VA schools. Hampton says travel and believes the move will enhance our profile and visibility around the nation and our revenues.”

I can't read tweets at work. So is the Big South going to actually have a basketball tournament at a neutral site again? Their previous attempts at that were not successful.

The Big South will play at the Bojangles (formerly the old Charlotte) Coliseum. Hard to see filling 8,600 seats for that one.

The only conferences that can successfully sell a neutral site are the Big East, ACC (although they struggled in Brooklyn), SEC, and Big Ten.

So wait, the ACC, with eleven of its members below the Mason/Dixon line, didn't respond well to its conference championship being in Brooklyn? I mean, who could have predicted that? xlolx

Arch Madness works pretty well at a neutral site.

Good catch--add the Valley to that list.

Not just "below," but a bunch of them are "way below."

There's also a Tournament in Norfolk, VA that does a pretty good job in filling the 10,000 seat Scope Arena.

The SoCon does well in Asheville, but didn't prosper in Charlotte. Asheville turns out to be the right-sized city with a right-sized arena

The Summit has occasionally topped the Valley's attendance. How's that for a visual sentence?

Turns out that happens when you hold it in your biggest basketball schools back yard.

What would it be if you didn't host the women and men at the exact same time 45 minutes from the two largest draws in MBB and WBB?

It's as "neutral site" LSU playing in the Sugar Bowl or Georgia playing in Atlanta.

Or KU playing in Kansas City...or St. John's playing in NYC... The whole point is to get fans in seats. Make money, get noticed.

If a "neutral" court and fairness to each and every school was a real issue, conferences would have rotating tourney sites. At that point, why have a tournament at all?

They had 2500 last year.
