AMHERST, Mass. - Mental toughness was on full display in Friday's NCAA Division I Softball Championship regional at the UMass.

Top-seeded Oklahoma displayed it by coming from behind - an unfamiliar position - to beat No. 4 Colgate 5-2. Both No. 2 UMass and No. 3 Long Island University displayed it by playing nine innings in temperatures that dipped into the 30's, with the Minutewomen eventually winning, 4-3.

"That was an epic war between two teams," UMass coach Elaine Sortino said. "They (LIU) really showed up and did what they needed to do, but our kids held on."

The Minutewomen (38-12-1), who own the longest winning streak in the country at 27 games, will face the Sooners (53-6), the No. 3 overall seed in the tournament, at noon Saturday, with LIU (33-21) taking on Colgate (25-23) at 2:30 p.m. ET. The loser of the UMass-Oklahoma game will play the winner of the LIU-Colgate game at 5 p.m.

Sooners come from behind to advance, next face UMass (http://http://www.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/stories/051807abm.html)
