News out of Houston is Jeff Van Gundy is officially ousted as head coach of the Houston Rockets. He rejected a recent offer to take a non-coaching position within the Rockets organization.

Right now, the Rockets are hot on Rick Adelman, formerly of the Kings, Warriors and Trail Blazers. Larry Brown is apparently throwing his name to the Rockets brass as well.

JVG did a great job coaching the Rockets. They obviously had a playoff letdown this past year, but the past two years have seen Yao and TMac on the bench with injuries, only to have a makeshift crew make the most of things and carry the Rockets in their absence.

JVG had some issues with the brass of the Rockets and that's what ultimately did him in.

Yeah, I don't see how this makes the Rockets any better - Van Gundy has his issues but quality of coaching is not one of them. McGrady just didn't get it done at crunch time and that's a big reason why they still aren't playing. Changing coaches won't change that.
