I was at my nephews high school game last night in Wisconsin. They still use aluminum bats, and had to come from behind twice to win in extra innings. North Dakota however switched back to wood bats this year, see story below. Does your state use wood or aluminum for High School baseball?

North Border's baseball team is averaging only 3.3 runs per game. But the Eagles have been competitive in almost every game.

Three of North Border's seven wins have been by three or fewer runs; nine of its 13 losses have been by three or fewer runs.

“That's the wood bat syndrome,” Eagles coach Jeff Carpenter said. “Everybody is playing more small ball.

“With aluminum bats, two or three runs isn't a lot to make up. But it is with wood bats. It's harder to string together a bunch of hits, and you don't get the big blows. I haven't seen a home run this year, either by us or anybody we've played.”

North Dakota high schools made a mandatory switch from aluminum to wood bats this season. With the regular season nearing its completion, the consensus of coaches in the area is that the switch has made a big change in the game.

We use aluminim here. Wood definitely changes the game, and IMO would make the game safer for younger kids

Aluminum in SC, unfortunately.

It's nice to see high school teams playing with wood bats. It may not be as exciting for the spectators, but there's nothing wrong with high schoolers learning the art of "small ball".

If God had meant for baseball bats to be made of metal, ash trees would be aluminum.

Montana is aluminum for American Legion baseball except Miles City.
They had a kid die from a line drive a few years ago, Brandon Patch.

They play wood exclusively, teams that play in Miles City use wood.

Last year the team from Bozeman refused to play with wood, and Miles City said they would forfeit the games.

The Dac Conference (NAIA) in ND uses wood for their conference games I believe.

aluminium in Georgia too. I'd like to see that changed, but I don't think it will happen. Those aluminum bat companies have too much at stake to lose that much money.

Aluminum, everyone needs to go wood. Might cause issues with budgets though.

Guess you haven't bought an aluminum bat lately. Most of the good ones cost $200-300

Some of the composite wood bats cost $80-$120, and will last a whole season. Composite wood is generally OK for use through the Minor Leagues.

Plus, these guys are throwing nasty 100mph fastballs, so the likelyhood of a bat breaking is alot less
