I don't necessarily disagree, but you need to watch Ailym Ford at Chattanooga.

I haven't watched him. I'll make a point to check him out now!

Tyler Hudson, WR, Central Arkansas: 38 receptions, 687 yards, 8 TDs (9 games) 18 yards per catch.
Man is playing outside of himself. Don't know why he didn't sign with an FBS. He's that good. xthumbsupx

I'm obviously a Trey Lance bobo but another freshman I've been super impressed with is Javon Williams Jr from SIU. The guy is a dude already at 6'1" 240 who is a load to bring down but also elusive in the open field. He catches the ball well and even lines up as the wildcat QB a decent amount (he's thrown the ball 7 times on the year with 1 passing TD).
He is on the list btw.

As a group or a specific person?
NDSU's leading WR has 22 catches for 396 yards
As a group NDSU TEs are
6 for 122
10 for 102
9 for 96

Lots of impressive young men on the list, but until Trey throws a pick, what he is doing as a freshman QB is just completely unheard of, especially when you consider the level of competition he has been successful against. Unless he regresses significantly, he should be an absolute shoo-in.

Dobbs has been a real leader for the HC D at LB....turned down a preferred walk-on at Michigan....Wolverines loss is the Saders gain

Tracy James has been a beast at RB, but I think the guy that would have the best chance for us is Jeremiah Chambers (LB). He has been a thorn in many sides throughout his career. This year he has 85 total tackles, 49 solo and 36 assists. His TFL is 14.5 & 42. He is just a disrupter...

xcoffeex He was competing with one of our players who suffered a broken arm against SHSU to end his season: (at the time the #4 receiver in the FCS) so he didn't get the ball thrown his way as often as he probably should have done.
Lujuan Winingham: 50 receptions, 814 yards, 16 yards per catch, 8 TDs

Let's consider Alex Gubner from Montana only because he's a 300 lb DT who leads the team in INTs lol

Haha nice! Honestly though, I have no idea if that should be really impressive stat or quite foreboding for the UM D

Secondary could definitely be considered a weakness, but considering how good they've been at stopping the run, I'm not going to complain too much.

As a group they have to have close to as many tds. 12.8ypr is a good average for tight ends; if your up for the award better be something outrageously good considering the southland teams for the most part has somewhat lesser teams than other conferences. Now put those numbers up on 4 or 5 top 25 teams and that is a different discussion. Kind of goes back to Brisco at SHSU looks good until he plays someone.

So you want to compare the number of touchdowns scored by 3 players to 1 player to make your point that the 1 play isn't as good as is being advertised?
He, alone, has more than double the receptions than all three of your guys combined
He, alone, has more than double the total yards of all three of your guys combined
But he can't out score a group of 3 guys in TDs by himself....what a ****ing schlub the guy is.
Good grief, this is a new level for NDSU fans.

I don't care if it was NDSU tight ends or Portland State tight ends; just don't think the numbers add up for the award.

Let's see: UCA played FBS Western Kentucky (road), FBS Hawaii (road), and 3 teams that were in the top 25 the week they played them: Nicholls (road) and SHSU (home) and Austin Peay (road).
He didn't get all those numbers vs. those bottom feeder SLC teams at home. UCA was on the road the first 5 of 7 games of the year and flew nearly 10,000 miles total during that period.
Add that little bit of info with the info I originally posted and decide. His stats don't lie. His level of competition doesn't lie. Will he win? Probably not. But he's considered for a reason. But you won't see it. Oh well. xrolleyesx

I don't necessarily disagree, but you need to watch Ailym Ford at Chattanooga.
NDSU's Trey Lance will be a shoo-in for this.
Lance has this in the bag....He is putting up solid numbers and NDSU will make a run that will allow him to put up more numbers....Not saying Lance doesn't deserve this, but I (an old has been center) could put up some decent QB numbers if I was playing with the other 23 guys that NDSU puts on the field!!! Ford is doing this on a 4-5 team. One that is down to 7 scholarship OLs (two of which have never taken a snap in college). Fords numbers are impressive, and wne you ad the fact that he is doing it ALL BY HIMSELF, it is even more impressive. The kid is a machine. If Lance was a Sophmore, Ford would easily win the Rice!!!!

I'll say that there are probably several deserving kids on this list, but I wouldn't trade Ailym Ford for any of them. He puts his heart and soul into every play.

Based on the numbers alone, I don't think I'd sell Undercuffler short.

I get that , but the one stat that really matters is the W-L stat. Undercuffer wil be 6-6 and Lance will be 12-0.....

I should have been clearer, I was making the Undercuffler statement based on your comment that "If Lance was a Sophmore, Ford would easily win the Rice!!!!"
I also think there are voters who agree with you about the strength of NDSU's roster (I, an old has been center, could put up some decent QB numbers if I was playing with the other 23 guys that NDSU puts on the field!) and it might impact how they vote.
What Trey Lance is doing is incredible and he should be recognized for it.
