Weber State has won the 2006-07 Big Sky Conference Women's All-Sports Trophy, the league announced Tuesday. The award is WSU's ninth Women's All-Sports Trophy, and the 'Cats have won the award in six of the last seven years. WSU finished third in the Men's All-Sport Trophy race where Northern Arizona won the trophy.
The All-Sports Trophy has been a part of the Big Sky Conference since its inception in 1963, and is designed to award schools for overall athletic excellence.
Schools are awarded points based on team finish in regular season standings for soccer, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, and tennis. Points are awarded in men’s and women’s cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field, and golf by virtue of the finish at the Big Sky Championship. Teams are ranked according to average points per sport.
Weber State claimed the Women’s All-Sports trophy for the sixth time in seven years, and the ninth time since the inception of the award in 1989. Weber State finished with 80 points for an average of 10 points per sport. The Wildcats’ season was highlighted by championships in cross country, and indoor track and field. Weber State finished second in outdoor track and field, and tied for second in soccer and women's basketball. WSU also tied for fifth in volleyball and finished sixth in golf and seventh in tennis.
