View Full Version : Among the finest facilities in FCS...

OK, so I have only seen a handful of football I-AA football facilities so I can't honestly judge. But, with the completion of the Bourger Varsity House, bringing the total football renovation to $30 million, is there any doubt Lafayette now has a facility that has to rank close to the top of the list?? Check out these photos...it's borderline ridiculous!

Plus, that dingy orange is sporting a 3 game losing streak to the shiny apple - the worm has certainly turned in the valley, that's for sure. xnodx

Awesome!, Really nice facility. I like the feel of the stadium without a track. You are right in the action with the distance of the stands to the playing field. xbowx

Very nice. The swim-spa is a great a addition to a training facility.

Anybody know what the things on the wall of the locker room are (Photo 10)?

The dedication is June 1. If I gave money to Friends of Lafayette Football, I'd be in attendance.. xdohx

Facility looks great in person too. I have some exclusive night pictures, but they will take a long time to upload..

Looks great!! I stopped and looked at Fisher on my way home from Towson in 2005 (stayed with a friend west of Philly) so I obviously need to do that again! What's the capacity now?

Checked out Lehigh's stadium that same day. Need to see Fordham and Georgetown to complete my Patriot League stadium tour. Only attended a game at Fitton Field though.

Thanks for the tour, 94.

What I think I'm going to like is the intimacy. With a seating capacity in the 13,500 range (expandable to 15,000+ for major events such as the Lehigh game) you don't get the feel of "wide open" which you did in the old Fisher Field and in most mid-sized football venues that don't (can't) have 360 degree seating.

Any word on what the grass area to the right (left as you are looking at it) of the Varsity House is going to look like? Will it merely be a grass slope, or are they planning some terracing to make for better "seating?"

I never thought we would speak about Lafayette Football and 1st class facility. Old Fisher was just depressing, I still cant believe the varsity house, and wow just more than a little jealous I didnt experience those luxuries a few years back

Wow. And to think -- what, a decade or so ago? -- you guys were considering a drop to DIII football.

I give all the credit in the world to Frank Tavani. That guy came in with a vision and single-minded intensity, and changed the total landscape of Lafayette football. One of the most impressive program resurrections I can ever remember.

Congratulations.

I guess you private school boys need the molly-coddling. Do the players get mints on their pillows each morning?

It appears those tubs are among the best seats in the house.

Wa-Griz has nothing like that. What a great building! Actually Montana is looking at building something exactly like that which would house new locker rooms, classrooms etc. Would not be a bad thing to copy!!

I don't know if we deserve a comparison to WashGriz just yet... our stadium is much smaller... theirs is enclosed and looks simply huge for I-AA.

Where are you going to cram that in? The football stadium barely fits in there as it is! You practically need a shoehorn to find a parking spot sometimes (no smack, just an observation). But honestly, where do you think they will put new locker rooms/classrooms etc.?
