Amazing how long a decision like this takes. Bradley has shown he can be successful and I have no doubt that he'll right the ship that is US soccer. A CONCACAF Gold Cup win would get that off on the right step...

Bradley to be named as U.S. coach

After 10 months of trying to find a head coach capable of building on Bruce Arena's eight-year tenure with the U.S. men's national soccer team, U.S. Soccer president Sunil Gulati has found his man and he didn't have to look very far to find him.

U.S. Soccer will announce Bob Bradley's permanent appointment as U.S. national team coach at a press conference in New York on Wednesday, sources with knowledge of the decision confirmed to ESPN.com on Tuesday. Bradley's hiring comes five months after he was chosen to serve as the interim head coach while Gulati considered other candidates, including several foreign coaches.

Bradley had been believed to be an outside candidate to replace Arena after Arena was not rehired last summer. However, Bradley's impressive 3-0-1 record as interim coach, a mark that including a 2-0 victory against Mexico in February, helped the longtime MLS coach secure a position that counted Gerard Houllier, Carlos Queiroz and Jose Pekerman as candidates.

His job was sealed once he beat Mexico. Unless they were going to get Pekerman or Klinsmann, Bradley was going to get it for awhile. The Gold Cup and Copa will be good tests for him and the team, but I would also be mildly surprised if he is still the manager once 2010 comes around.

I really wish we had gotten Klinnsman. The kind of soccer he had Germany playing in the world cup was unrecognizable for that country.

This is an interesting time with quite a few guys who have been stalwarts for three WC teams no longer on Team USA. We'll see how they do, but your right, if he has let downs in Copa and Gold Cup, he'll be lucky to see 2010...

I like this guy and now with some of the older leftovers from prior teams moving on this guy gets a shot with a bunch of young, very talented players. Although the last World Cup would say otherwise, the US is just getting better and better as time goes on, and hopefully this guy will be the right shot in the arm they need to do something with the new talent. I think he'll do well enough in the cup competitions coming up that he'll be there come 2010, and this time the World Cup isn't in Europe, where the US is awful and where European teams shine. Playing outside of Europe was good to the US before, no reason why it can't be again.
