The Southern Conference announced its October athletes of the month for football, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf, rifle, men's and women's soccer and volleyball Friday, highlighting excellence among student-athletes during the month. Wofford quarterback Joe Newman was named the football offensive player of the month.
