Could easily happen IMO. The Big Sky, CAA, and MVFC are all looking like they'll get 4 teams at most. That means there will be at least 5 at-large bids to go elsewhere. The SOCON doesn't look like they'll get more than 1 and maybe not even that. The OVC gets one maybe but even that's iffy. The Big South possibly gets 1. UND and the 2nd place MEAC team are wild cards but all those are sketchy. The SLC is going to have plenty of spots to fill if they can get enough teams to 8-4.

And not one of the teams tied for the conference lead (SHSU) who just beat a team in their bracket..

At a minimum --
SELA --> SHSU
JSU --> SEMO

Hard to see UCD and frankly even Nicholls
