Hopefully Sneed keeps up his recent surge, and makes the top 5 later this year.

I almost put him instead of Lance as just outside of top 5. I could see either of them there are on ballots.

Aaron Parker WR Rhode Island

He was on my list last week when I started but they have another WR with a better ypg and a WR needs to be his team leader for sure. Stewart better pick it up. I could easily flip them if Parker has a couple big games.

The two NDSU players that I was hoping to see on this list are there.

That's about all you can ask for, really - other than the voters getting it right at the end of the year.

But I have lost a lot of faith after Strevler didn't win it when he literally carried USD on his back for those years.

This was probably the biggest snub recently. It was just shameful that Streveler lost that year. He was the entire offense.

agree he was snubbed. I think fact that Streveler was playing latter half of season injured, along with a few other defensive starters being knocked out with injuries as I recall, hurt his chances. That was a very good USD team when they were healthy ... losing to SHSU in round of 16 on road probably did Strevelers chances for Payton Award in.

That was a very good year for QBs in FCS. The Rank in 1st column reflects QBR % ranking. BUt I resorted to show total pass yards. Briscoe was #1 and Streveler was #2, but Streveler had slightly better QBR and a lot more rushing yards ... 720 yards, 4.3 yards per carry. And did this playing in MVFC, compared to Briscoe playing in Southland.

Aside from that ... look at all the great FCS QBs and the seasons they had in 2017 .. kind of remarkable.

But they made up for it a year later when KSU Burks finished 3rd in voting .. he had 150% QBR and 900 yards rushing. Here's the top 10 QBR .. you'll notice he didn't make the cutoff .. why ? Because he averaged less than 15 pass per game minimum. In fact, he averaged 9 pass per game, finished with just over 1,000 yards passing, 10 TDs and 6 Picks .. poayed against a very weak schedule until the playoffs. Still somehow a year after snubbing Streveler with 4k passing and 720 rushing, and a 156% QBR playing against MVFC schedule warrants 2nd place ... But Burks resume somehow warranted 3rd place ??

agree he was snubbed.

They vote on the Payton/Buchanan/Rice awards before the playoffs start. Otherwise I'm pretty sure Jeremiah Briscoe wouldn't have been a two-time Payton Award winner.

I like how you left out how Burks had 29 RUSHING touchdowns.
didn't intentionally leave it out ... so do you think he was the 3rd best offensive player in FCS ?? Given his stats, most of which were piled up against very weak opponents ? Noticed he ran for 95 yards and 3 TDs against JSU ins 1st round, so you saw him have a good running game. But he played maybe 5 other teams with a pulse all year and only averaged 37 rush yards and 1 TD per game in those games; and was 31-57 for 437 yards across 5 games .. so ran for 37 yards per game and passed for 87 yards avg per game for those 5 games against teams with a pulse. His 21 other TD came in 7 games against teams ranked 88th to 118th. The 5 other teams with a pulse (besides JSU) were Georgia St (bad FBS), Samford, Monmouth, then playoff games against JSU, Wofford and SDSU. They didnt play a single playoff team in regular season.

If he played in the MVFC, he would have been the 5th best QB in our conference: Stick, Christion, McGuire, and Boyle were all better QBs, so was Straub but he got injured. Simmons and Dunne were arguably just as good. And maybe not even the 10th best offensive player in conference. Add several RBs and a couple WRs to the list of QBs. There is just no way he was 3rd best offensive player in FCS ... he wasn't close to 3rd in MVFC alone IMO.
