In just the last few years, Utah has surprised the college football community, Wichita State and George Mason have taken the nation by storm on the hardwood and now Coastal Carolina is taking the reins in baseball.
While few similarities exist between the above schools, each have or hope to accomplish something great as a mid-major.
The Chants would host at 4,324-seat Coastal Federal Field in Myrtle Beach, S.C., which sits just 14 miles from Conway, S.C. - the home of Coastal Carolina University.
"Unlike two years ago, we've made arrangements with the professional organization and are now in great position to host a Regional," Gilmore said. "I think we're still on the bubble for hosting, but if the NCAA wants to award one to us, we'd be in position to do so."
Not only would hosting a Regional be important for other aspiring mid-majors out there, it would also provide a recruiting boost for the already talented Chanticleers.
