The nine-time regular season Patriot League champs will be hosting the PL tournament this coming weekend at Goodman Campus; however, they will be without their MVP Julie Sterrett who tore her ACL and MCL the other week while scoring the winning run in Lehigh's 2-1 win over Colgate in a collision at the plate. Sterrett, whose father is the Lehigh AD, was selected to last year's NCAA Regional All-Star Team.
Mountain Hawks should still be considered the favorite to win the tournament and progress to the NCAA's but her absence will certainly have some effect. Hopefully someone can step up to fill the void.

Are you seriously smiling about an injury to a student-athlete?
That's really sad.

Yes she is his daughter.
Pard4life your post besides being meanspirited reflects poorly on LC. You have every right to be a unsportsmanlike jerk, it is a shame that you do so under a fine school's nickname.

You guys beat me to it. I was, frankly, quite surprised when I saw the response. As much as there is a high spirited rivalry between the two schools, I don't recall every being gleeful over any opponent's injury, let along a Leopard's. Not something that I think Frank Tavani's face would like to be smiling upon...

Lehigh will host the PL Softball Tournament starting at 2p.m when the Mountain Hawks play #4 seed Army. #2 Colgate plays #3 Lafayette at 4 p.m. Tournament is double elimination with Finals slated for Noon on Saturday and 2 p.m. if a second game is necessary. Sunday is the rain date.

That's a shame. I hadn't heard about the injury...is she a senior? What a crappy way to have her career end...xnonono2x

You got to be a Republican with a rationalization like that. Just why is there an advantage to LC, Oh she got hurt! Gloating over an opponent's injury, naaaah. Jeez fella she's a senior going into her last playoff and you guys don't even play us.

The 'pards will certainly play us on Friday if they beat Colgate and we take care of Army today. Lafayette is the #3 seed and much improved.
To answer an earlier post, yes, Sterrett is a senior and her career is over. Even if Lehigh wins the PL and goes to the NCAA there is now way she'd be recovered from such a devastating injury. I still pick us to win. As valuable as Sterrett is , the Mountain Hawks have a very good team. they've gone 25-4 since the opening tournaments in Florida against some of the top teams in the country, and pitching is 80% and Lehigh has one of the best in Sweeney.

Lehigh won the first game in the PL Tournament with Lisa Sweeney twirling a 1-hitter and striking out 14! Mountain Hawks will play winner of Colgate/Lafayette on Friday at 11 a.m.

Lehigh lost 2-0 to Colgate today, propelling Colgate into the final.
Lehigh then came back and lambasted Lafayette 13-0. Some advantage Lafayette gained there...

One other thing - this was Lehigh's 4th "mercy rule" victory over Lafayette in 5 games this year (the other was a 5-2 victory).

Mountain Hawks have to win two today against Colgate who will like go with their stud/ace Nordstrom, who pitched one-hitter on Friday. First game at noon, second, hopefully to follow.

SHSU won the SLC tournament (2nd time ever), but it was their first auto-bid to the NCAA tournament...
SHSU will probably be heading to A&M (College Station) or Baylor (Waco). Best of luck, Lehigh!

Mountain Hawks couldn't make it back. Lost to Colgate today by the 'weirdest' score of 1-0. Lehigh had only 2 hits, BUT Colgate had only 1!
Seems like pitching is 80% of this game. Sort of a shame--Lehigh barreled though the League with a 17-1 record. Then lose to Colgate with barely a .500 record. Still LU had an excellent year. The loss of Sterrett hurt, but I don't know if her presence would have mattered today. Colgate's pitcher was super. Lots of kudos for shutting the 'Hawks out twice.
Lehigh has won the PL regular season title 14/15 years (only miss was 1998 since 1993), and 9 tourney championships. Can't do it every year...
