ORANGEBURG, S.C. -- South Carolina State has hired Tim Carter as its men's basketball coach.
Carter was introduced on campus Friday in front of about 100 people, pledging that he would bring exciting basketball to the Bulldogs and their fans.
"I will make one promise: You will enjoy watching us play," Carter said.
Carter spent the past season as an assistant coach at Florida State. Before that, he was head coach at Texas-San Antonio, where his teams twice made the NCAA Tournament.
Carter replaces Jamal Brown, a former player and assistant who led the Bulldogs for one season. Brown was fired in March for what the school termed violations of its obligations under the federal Title IX law.
