You can add a poll to any thread you've created I believe. Just go into the Thread Tools dropdown and select the Add a Poll option. I just tried it on a thread I created in July and looks like it would work on even that old of a thread.

Bison may struggle a bit early, but I don't think at any point in the game the Illinois St. fans will truly feel like they can win the game. Sort of the way I felt watching Louisville play Notre Dame -- even with a 14-7 Cardinals' lead at the end of the first quarter, I never thought they would win.

amazingly, this could be the best game is FCS on saturday ... and just 5 posts.
So Ive been posting about our offense, and all the "ifs ands and buts" about our QB and pass game.
So here is some info about our defense, probably the biggest front 7 and all 11 in all of FCS, and certainly comparable to most P5 FBS programs. Here's who you will see in the game the most from our 1's and 2's .. we play a 3-4-4.
DL Group: most of the outside rush will come from DE McKnight and LB/Jack Tuvone Clark .. reserve Podkulski plays as much as starters .. not a SR in the group yet. Inside we go 325 lbs, 295, 290, when needed. This group goes 5 deep with quality guys.
LB Group: You can see our LBer group ranges from 230-250 for most part and we will play as many as 8 guys with confidence. Starters are SR laiden group, but plenty of underclassmen backups getting real reps and could start and barely lose a beat. Clark is a beast. We like all 8.
DB Group: Kirk and Taylor are studs .. guy who is surprising everyone is Clayton Isbell .. another beast in the making - he will make big plays. We go 6 deep with confidence.

- "down year" (for NDSU)
- coming off a tough win, then a bye week
- playing on the road against a pretty decent MVFC team
I think ILSU has a halfway decent shot. I don't expect them to win, but I could see it being a pretty close game. If the weather in Normal is anything like it's supposed to be in Macomb this Saturday, rain could be a factor (I don't know who that helps in this situation though).

There was rain delay against NAU and it rained lightly for most of the game .. we did just fine in the light rain on both side of ball. Our field turf is just 1 year old, so it is in very good shape.

Like I mentioned in another thread, counting this year, this year's team will probably be the weakest of the next 4. There are a lot of young players this year but they are getting better and better.

Every time I see player weights rounded to every 5 lbs, it shouts embellished.
Weights fluctuate and Spack and strength coach are very big on assessing body type potential to determine position and building them up into their position to their max effective weight. That is also why our roster is so tall .. so he can put more weight on the frame if needed.
But I wonder the same thing about all rosters .. but it would not play well with NFL scouts if Spack had his thumb on scale .. we'veusually got 3-5 guys being looked at each year, sometimes more. So I'm guessing when they do their summer weigh in, they will round up anyone they expect to keep gaining weight. But I highly doubt were talking about anything in excess of 2-4 lbs overstated. And I've yet to see any Redbird players materially different when they go do their pro day camps elsewhere.
OL Mike Liedtke (class of 2014) was prime example .. he was 240 lbs coming out of HS and worked his way up to 305 lbs as SR, and is now in NFL at exact same weight. Spack would never compromise his credibility with NFL scouts.

GOTW?
25 to 5 so far ?!?
Not surprised based on our 4 game sampling of performance. But that is why I keep saying, it depends on which QB Davis shows up. First quarter will tell me a lot ... though I'm assuming we will start conservative with our play calling, but build up from there and see if he is hanging tough in pocket and making throws, or gets happy feet. If/when he does the former, he will impress. But I expect our defense to match up very well regardless .. only issue will be if they are on the field too long .. cuz sh-t eventually happens even to good defenses against good offenses.

This will be a good game.
Bison OL and Redbird DL = strength vs strength
Can the Bison defense get pressure on Davis so he makes mistakes? Can the Bison slow down Robinson? Will Spack throw a bunch of different looks at TL? Will the Bison play man coverage on the WRs to get more hats in the box to stop Robinson?
Lots of questions that will be answered in a few hours!
Close win for the Bison.

Early away game after a bye week and a tough game going into the bye week. The massive size and quickness of ISUr on both sides of the ball, young Bison team with the first true road test of the year. Apparently a sold out crowd as tickets are $130 on Vivid and almost none available (second most $$ ticket in college football today just behind the Auburn-Florida tickets) doesn't bode well for the guys in Green and Yellow. ISUr 24 NDSU 17, the only chance the Bison have of winning is if the open the Fargo Dome and allow me to stand in the SE corner. Streak ends today boys and girls and Alt Tru, take it to the bank #BOOKIT

One thing I am noticing that even with NDSU running different defense and offense(to some extent) the talent differential keeps getting bigger. Pardon me. They missed the call on the TD but that wasn’t a fumble on the Bison. They should have able to score from the one yard line. That is on ISUr. Tough **** as far as I am concerned.

I think that TD was hard to overturn. But I did see an angle that looked like maybe the knee was down, still not enough to overturn. NDSU got a few bad calls too.

I have no problem with the bison backups scoring but there's no need to get cute trying to do it.

Some thoughts after this game:
Nice crowd yesterday for the game. The tailgate starts blocks before the stadium and it was fun chatting with Redbird fans. Wish the BB arena was open, I guess the lower bowl is getting renovated.
First of all, the Redbird team last year in the FD was better than this one. Are the Bison that good or was ISU overrated? After watching the Bison curb stomp ISU, IMO they are that good. The Bison OL did a very good job in pass protection and run blocking. Lance is a stud and is only a RFR...xlolx NDSU defense is getting better every game.
If the Bison play like this the rest of the season, no one is beating them.
ISU is a good team but Davis is not the answer. Robinson was a one man show but needs a passing game to complement his running.

Hey Redbird 4th and short: Since you are the only Redbird fan that posts on here fairly consistently, what is your impression of this game?
Your defense didn't impress me at all. Either NDSU is that good or the Redbirds are way over rated.
Robinson is a stud but Davis is not the answer at QB.

Defense was actually ok other than a few big breakdowns. If you break down the game into the first 8 drives, NDSU only averaged 30 yards per drive ... granted 2 drives were short field after our fumble on 1st drive and then the big kick return. But you also got the 53 yard run and 35 yard pass. So it wasn't like you were marching up and down the field when building the 23-3 lead. It wasn't till game was over on your last 3 drives where you averaged 70 yards per drive that we actually collapsed. Until then, it was big plays or bad field position .. IMO.
Offensively, Davis had weak game and got cae of happy feet at times, but I thought he at least gutted it out in a bad game. You needed to see how badly he played our first 3 games to appreciate my point there. But we did not help our defense much at all the entire game which showed on the last 3 drives. The. WR fumble on the 1st drive set some of the tone for the game given we were missing our top 2 receivers and how skittish we are in our pass game.
Bad day at the office... we're better than we showed this week. And back to my point in Brady who I have ripped harder than most on Redbird Forum ... he had very good game against NAU and he threw with much more conviction against Bison than he showed the first 3 games. Weak as he played, I wont be surprised if he bounces right back and keeps building on his game. Not just Redbird koolaid talking there ... he's been humbled into reality. I think this will help him the rest of the way. He'll still struggle for consistency but I like where his head is at finally ... we'll see.
But do not write off our defense. I know its better than scoreboard suggested.

Meant to say .. you guys game planned and executed very well for us. And the fumble on first drive by our top back up WR did not help the offense's confidence to start the game. Again, we're better than that score and game indicated. Basic snowball effect against a very well prepared team.
