MINNEAPOLIS- A Burnsville man is sentenced to 750 years in federal prison for making child pornography.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says 53-year-old Bruce W- Betcher was sentenced today on 24 counts of manufacturing child pornography, one count of receiving child porn, and one count of possessing it.
Chief U.S. District Judge James Rosenbaum called Betcher's crime (quote) "an utterly unconscionable act."
He also says (quote) "there are some crimes for which there is no excuse."
Some of Betcher's activity included taking digital photographs of underage relatives engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
Betcher was arrested in September 2005 after 78 images of child porn were found on a computer in Atlanta. In one picture, a Brownie uniform was visible -- and traced to a Minnesota member.
The trail eventually led to Betcher, and he was convicted in May of 2006.
