Penn/Delaware had an announced attendance of 11,782 people witness the Blue Hens’ comeback 28-27 win over the Quakers.

Villanova/Towson attracted an announced crowd of 8811 people that saw the Wildcats’ wild 52-45 win over the host Tigers; this game will probably be a game of the year candidate in FCS/DI-AA in 2019.

Sept. 2 at Auburn- $1.95 million This is the most UMass has ever received for a game and would be more than any visiting team in the country received in 2019.
Nov. 11 at Penn State: $1.6 million The contract also calls for the creation of a home and home men’s basketball series.

Nov. 23 at Georgia: $1.9 million - This will be UMass’ second trip to Sanford Stadium where they played in 2018.

Harking back on the original quote I read from the then UMass Pres who pushed this ridiculous adventure, his comment was he thought big time football would place UMass in the same paragraph of Michigan. You have to wonder how a president of a large University can be so naive, but they can be.

It had rained for a day before and right up until game time. Ended up getting a little blue sky during the game, but rained for the 4th qtr. again. That seemed to keep the attendance down.

Because from a business standpoint, you'd think payment would be in relation to the caliber of competition you offer. Or the crowd you'd potentially bring. Or maybe the eyeballs on TV. Good points, but it can have bowl eligibility repurcussions. They pay more to FBS, even really bad ones, because they are always automatic counters, at least if they win. And a bowl game gets them the money back. Lots of money.

I bet it costs FCS teams more to buy a game against another FCS team than it does to buy a game against a D2/D3/NAIA, even though the top D2 teams are better than the lower level FCS teams.
