I'm sure this is not a complete list (both of Western's FBS games are not listed), but it's a nice list of payouts for both FBS & FCS games......

Is it just me or is it surprising that G5 teams get higher paydays to play P5 teams then FCS schools do? I wouldn’t have guessed that.

That's actually one of the reasons that many schools cite when moving up from FCS to something like the Sun Belt. I'd imagine it has to do with the fans of the P5 schools thinking that G5 is "better" than FCS.

It’s not surprising after you consider that any number of G5 wins counts toward bowl eligibility, whereas only 1 FCS win in a given season may count towards bowl eligibility. We do the same this at the FCS level, so it seems logical to me (as in all D1 schedule gives precedence over a schedule with D2 wins)

Was that game scheduled when Idaho was still FBS?

Alabama pays everyone who isn't in Alabama an obscene amount of money just so they don't have to pay teams from Alabama.

FCS teams command a lower price but I suppose they could bring in Troy or South Alabama. Southern Miss is pretty close. Bus trip from Hattiesburg. Good money.

Not even FCS teams. Auburn is the ONLY Alabama team UA ever plays.
The only reason the Iron Bowl started is because the state forced UA into it.

Was that game scheduled when Idaho was still FBS?
Pretty sure it was. When they moved to FCS last year their message board had a discussion about it. And this was one of the reasons some of them thought they should have tried the FBS independent route - they got paid more than twice as much per game.

Something is better than nothing. I don't think Davidson offers a guarantee.

I find it interesting, or this table is wrong, but there are FCS teams getting a larger payout then some P5 schools playing another P5 school.
Look at Arizona State playing at Michigan State - 400,000

Haven't bothered to look it up but my guess is that those are throw-ins for travel expenses and such that are part of home/home or 2-for-1 deals. I don't think there's any P5 team that goes on a true non-conference road game that isn't part of a deal that got them or will get them a home game as well.
IIRC Michigan St did play in Tempe last year.

That might explain why Utah is only getting 250,000 from BYU. That is a short bus ride and no hotel or restaurant bills.

New Mexico getting $1.1 million from Notre Dame. That must be how they can afford to pay SHSU $350K.

Was that game scheduled when Idaho was still FBS?
Correct. The opposite happened with LSU and Georgia Southern. That game was scheduled back when GS was FCS. There have been a couple of reschedules on their part and a small price bump as a result. Generally the SBC gets paid in the ~$1.3 million range nowadays.
