Alex Miller from UMass was a senior and graduated.
Nick Diana has been moved to center to take his place.
The two open slots in the UMass OL will probably be filled by the return of Sean Callicchio 6-5 300 (broke his arm last year and missed most of the season) and Red-shirt Freshman Vladimir Ducasse 6-4 305
UMass returns 11 All-Conference players and adds BCS All-American Navy transfer Jeromy Miles. We should be decent again this year.

CAA fans should keep an eye on Vladimir Ducasse. He started practicing with the first team about three days after he joined UMass. He's listed as 6-4 305. I've stood side of him and there is no way he's that small.
He was first team All-Connecticut in HS. Several UMass players have told me he's really good.
Another UMass OL prospect this year is Red-Freshman Kevin Macon 6-5 325. In HS he was ranked as the #1 OL in Pittsburgh and the #7 OL in all of Pennsylvania. He originally signed with Pitt but he had a knee injury and they backed out on him. He's healthy now.

Towson got their latest RB that way, well almost. Then Colorado HC Barnett recruited and signed Jaslee Rouson a RB from NJ. Then Barnett resigned and the new coach saw 6 RB on the depth chart and decided to release him for another position player.
Advantage Towson. xthumbsupx

I think this is the year that the our unsung CBs Wozah (Sp?) and Touchstone garner at least 2nd team all-SoCon. Also look for the soph. DT Williams, and LB Roman to shine. Not sure which WR will step up for the first team if any, but we should have a couple on the second team. Maybe Johnson.

Vlad is a sophomore, at least listed as one. He played against Stony Brook, W&M, Towson and URI.
I wouldn't be surprised if more then Hatchell and Burris made first-team D from UMass. Charles Walker (LB) and Sean Smalls (DB) most notably. Certainly not saying they will make first-team, the ones HensRock listed are all very good.

I agree - also think we will see more 2-back sets, giving Devon Moore more ooportunity and a possible 2nd team selection. There is also one more 1st team lock on the OL (but I am very baised on that one). You could also make an argument for OL John Holt at 1st team, 2nd team at the very least.

Good job, carney.
My two cents:
Holy Cross DB Casey Gough is back for a fifth year. Along with Colgate's Gallihugh, I'd say he'd be a favorite for D-POY. I love Romans, too, but I think he has to wait another year.
With LC's quality O-line, Mo White has as good a shot as anyone for the All-PL RB spot along with Scott. White's durability is yet to be proven, however.
Talk about out on a limb--the stage is set for Lafayette's QB recruit Peter Raymond to come in about the third game of the year and grab that Rookie award. Might as well dream big.
I like carney's mention of LC's Russo--if they separated out the fullbacks, he'd be a shoe-in.

Evin Groves RB
Aaron Papich DT

Oops - and thanks. Georgetown is the only school that does not have "returning starters" posted on the Patriot League website. This forced me to go out to the back 40 and try to round up some information. Obviously what I found is out of date. Buzbee caused a faint warning bell to go off in my head but, just like on my wedding day, I ignored the warning signs and plowed straight ahead. Since I am still within the allowable time frame I will go back to my original post and edit.
The lack of appropriate Georgetown information on the League website is, unfortunately, another of those seemingly little things that cumulatively cause me to ask what the heck is going on down there. To some of us casual observers out here in the hinterlands it just gets curiouser and curiouser.

Watch out for Scotty McGee at JMU to get All-CAA corner and/or return specialist. He was a true freshman last year and returned a kickoff for a touchdown against YSU with a partially broken foot. I'll bet somebody 100 bucks that he returns at least 3 kicks for touchdowns if he stays healthy.

I don't think any of our RB's will make 1st or 2nd team. Too much question there, not enough consistency (yards and healthwise too). And Jack Rolovich might have played well last year at times, but he is NOT a 1st team selection. Honestly, I would take Cole Berquist over him any day.
I like the rest of your list, except that you didn't mention Epi King. HE could be possibly POY.

If Jack has a good year he will be at least 2nd team. The key for the RB's is health. If Groves or Mason stays healthy for the entire year, one of them should be second team because he'll have at least 800 yrds. As for Epi yes, he could be a POY, but with his back, I am not sure he'll be able to play the whole year. Hope so!

If Randolph survives - and that is a realistic "if," given the supporting cast - the numbers are going to be gaudy, bordering on ridiculous. He and those wideouts are all there is up there in 'saderland. Also, not a big Threatt fan. I applaud the raw athleticism, but question the consistency. He's running out of opportunities to "show me," as they say in Missouri.

After taking a quick look back at last season’s All SoCon teams, I’ve shuffled my predictions and tried to be a little more realistic. APP owned the All SoCon teams last year with 6 first team seniors on the Coaches list, 13 players overall. Furman had 4 players on the Coaches list, 3 were seniors. Felton did not make the Coaches first team list, he was a first team choice on the Media’s picks. So I’ll try to be realistic but with a little optimism.

Nice pick on Dato, carney, but while John (not Jeff) Skelton will hopefully improve quite a bit, I just don't see it happening yet (but he's getting set up pretty well for what will hopefully be great Jr. & Sr. years).
Dato is our only "lock" and has a realistic shot at AA. Just an amazing, amazing leg.
The others that I'd throw out there in our "remember these names" for possible consideration are:
DL - Brian Tracz (pronounced Tracy). He's our UofIndiana transfer and he tore it up from what I was told, in Spring.
DB - Iseijah Allen - had a great frosh campaign as a returner and supposedly was just awesome in Spring, playing mostly at FS.
ROY candidates:
LB - Nick Mageira - staff is very, very high on this 2 star with a bunch of FBS offers.
RB - Q'asand Lewis - with Dortch not playing this year, the starting spot will be up for grabs and there's a good chance this guy will grab it early - chose Fordham over Colorado St. offer.
WR - Jon Arnold - even with the offers from the two above, Coach called this kid something special and likely to step in immediately ... likely the best recruit in the class (although, who knows?).

Filing this one away for about six months from now.
Spoken with the wisdom of experience, Fordham. Nothing's easy. Now, based on his video and his other offers, Babb may easily be one of the most talented recruits in the PL, but talent has to meet opportunity. With five QBs including three juniors ahead of him, I'm not sure Babb gets the chance his first year.
A Lafayette frosh QB probably has a better chance of starting at some point this season due to the fact that there are only two QBs ahead of the freshmen: (Jones is basically a freshman having been out all last year injured) a senior career back-up who's attempted one pass and a soph.
FU's Allen and Georgetown's Mitchell are two exciting young return-men in the league.

With five QBs including three juniors ahead of him, I'm not sure Babb gets the chance his first year.
a little inside knowledge none of the juniors distingushed themselves during the spring and the coaching staff is just waiting to hand the reins to Babb my bet is game 4.

Rok what about Jamar Anderson getting on there as well? They can't double Simp and him.
He very well could - but to me he's unproven. I think it would be hard to get 2 receivers from the same team on the first team.

From JMU
Scotty McGee CB/KR
Eugene Holloman RB
Mike Caussin TE
Tony LeZotte FS
Rockeed McCarter WR
Hassan Abdul-Wahid DE
You're the 2nd one to forget about Baronowsky. Played as a true freshman (after pg year at Hargrave Military in VA) at UConn 3 yrs ago, was on their 2 deep 2 years ago, and last year after transfering to JMU was 2nd team all A-10. He has a better chance than Wahid. I wouldn't suspect that Wahid will make 2nd team, though.xcoffeex

QB Tom Zetts - probably 2nd team
TE Louis Irizarry or Derrick Bush - Bush was 2nd team GFC in '06, LI was on the GFC newcomer team
LB James Terry or LB Jeremiah Wright - Wright was given a medical redshirt last year and will be a force
DT Mychael Savage - 2006 1st team all GFC
G Brad Samsa - 2006 2nd team all GFC
WR Ferlando Williams - converted QB out of Georgia, impressive in spring

LB - Colin Disch, Sr. Albany
LB - Chad Wengert, Sr. Robert Morris
LB - Chris Stimmel, Sr. Central Connecticut State
DB - Al Phillips, Sr. Wagner

DB - Anthony Wilson, Jr. Central Connecticut State.
DB - James Kazil, Sr. Robert Morris
PK - Piotr Czech, Jr. Wagner
P - Chris Lynch, Sr. Albany
RS - Mario Hines, Sr. Robert Morris
Quick explanation:
-A lot of Robert Morris and Albany players because they return a lot of significant contributors and former all-conference selections. Albany, RMU, and Monmouth are probably the top three teams, with CCSU lurking in fourth with a lot of unknowns. Robert Morris and Albany also had two of the top team defenses in the country last year and return a lot of the same components, although they both lose some signficant contributors.
-The offensive line portion is a crapshoot because almost all are fresh faces to the lineup. Could go anywhere depending on how teams gel.
-These things are never accurate in the first place! xrotatehx

He was a true freshman last year and returned a kickoff for a touchdown against YSU with a partially broken foot.
That wasn't hard to do:D YSU's KO coverage was putrid all season

3 of the 5 have to be there on the OL IMO. Disch, Phillips, Nutt, and Pagano have to be pro prospects IMO.

Well, since no one else has done so, I might as well.
Contenders from GSU:
WR/RS/RB/? :) : Jayson Foster, Sr.--everything you've heard from Statesboro is true. It's not hyperbole.
G: Marcelo Estrada--probably the best resume on the OL.
DE: Larry Beard--very strong. Hasn't quite put it together yet.
CB: Brandon Jackson--best player on the defense?
Some other names to remember:
RB: Mike Hamilton/Lamar Lewis--if either one of these guys gets a lot of carries, they've got a shot.
WR: Raja Andrews--Hatcher's offense features guys who catch 70+ passes. I think Andrews has the best shot to do this. Mainly a hunch.
S: Dedric Bynam--SoCon freshman of the year in 2004.
S: Chris Covington--if he can play to his athletic ability, watch out!

You must be talking about the media poll.
No way we'll get that many on the coaches poll the way they blackball our players every year.
After last year's GW coaches poll, I'll never trust another coaches poll of any kind. They're just too emotionally invested in it to provide an unbiased selection. Can't blame them.
