Thanks for posting this... always interesting to see the new numbers. Also (and we already know this), the Mac should clearly be FCS, and their rights/licensing numbers are embarrassingly low for having to play weekday games.

No argument here and beyond exposure of being on the ESPN networks with no other football being played there's really no benefit to the schools themselves. I dug this stuff up when having a pissing match about going FBS on Bisonville but the MAC schools only get about $670k per school per year from their TV contract (link (https://www.hustlebelt.com/2014/8/19/6045303/explaining-the-new-mac-espn-tv-deal)). So any kind of move "up" to the MAC and the corresponding budget increase would have to come from other places other than TV money. All things considered I definitely prefer my team being in the MVFC rather than the MAC.

Still taking in more in student fees total than NDSU's total expenses.

And they claim to be FBS ready? They are at 80% subsidy and would need to get that under 55% (Virginia state law). Yikes. I don't think any media deal for any FBS conference would be able to make up that difference, at least any conference that JMU would be invited to.

Sure there are...

The B10 just jumped from 24 is about $55m per school this year - and probably 60m by next year
The B12 is was at 38m last year and based on trends since that deal was struck will be close to 42m for this year once numbers are released

Seems like Nicholls gets the most bang for the buck..at least in football.

Strong AD, very aggressive, thinks outside the box and knows how to get things done. He'll be in high demand soon.

God, I wish Bobby Williams would retire and we could hire him.

So James Madison have a mid major budget on the FCS level. They should be winning the FCS Title every year. But that 80% of their budget being paid for by the students won't hold up if they move up a level.
