I'd like to know what this is all about. They seem to give waivers for quarterbacks.

Hoffman says he was seeking a waiver due to his mother's brain tumor:

1) NCAA sux & cares not 1 whit about the health & welfare of Student Athletes nor their families

2) The mileage difference from his hometown to VaTech is only about 75 miles closer than it is to CCU.

3) Wake Forest, Appy, and UNC Charlotte are all 3 much closer & roughly an hour from his hometown. All 3 have D1 FBS Football Programs that, I suspect, were or would be interested in Mr. Hoffman. (see below)

4) Mr. Hoffman appears to have been an outstanding student at CCU and is majoring in Information Systems. All 3 of the aforementioned schools offer degrees in this major.

5) Just a guess, but this article may have hurt his chances for receiving a waiver...

”But one of my goals is to play better competition,” Hoffman said Tuesday. “That’s one of the main reasons that pushed me to transfer.”

The Hokies...lost three starting offensive linemen to graduation and may have significant playing time available in the interior. That fact was not lost on Hoffman, a 6-foot-4, 315-pounder who also garnered interest from Appalachian State and Charlotte once he entered the NCAA’s Transfer Portal.
