On the softball diamond, it's been the best of times for Danielle Liermann. The consistent heart of Austin Peay softball's batting order since the day she stepped on campus as a freshman, the now-senior is obliterating any and all hitting records at Austin Peay. She's doing it for a team that's gone from a nine-game bottom-feeder in her freshman season to a 39-win juggernaut a year ago with aspirations for even greater feats this spring.The distance from Simi Valley, California to Clarksville can at times feel daunting, and that feeling has increased significantly since last May. That's when Liermann's mother Robin was diagnosed with leukemia.
