The best pitcher in the AL is a guy no one knows about. Felix Hernandez has been just plain sick his first two starts. Boston managed, what, one hit in 9 innings? I think that is the second one hitter he's thrown already this season.

this isnt really a surprise, hes been advertised as this kind of pitcher.
What maybe hard to believe is that he just turned 21 between his 1st start and tonites game.

Hernandez isn't flying under the radar by any means. Baseball experts have been expecting him to break out for some time. But I wouldn't call him the best in baseball just yet. Until he has put things together for two or three years like Johan Santana, I think Santana is still the King of the Hill.

I'm a huge fan of Baseball... He's no secret if you pay attention to the game..
However:
He is now (after stealing another game with somebody elses spotlight) becoming a regular on the baseball talk shows...
Mr. C is spot on Santana is the benchmark - but we'll have a funseason to watch

Of course I was going to get responses like that...
No, I realize he's not an unknown to baseball. However, he is 21 and not a household name. He plays in Seattle which gets little to no national coverage. I doubt most baseball fans could pick him out of a lineup or tell you what number he wears. He is, in the grand scheme, a relative unknown to most baseball fans.

This guy certainly had his stuff last night.
I don't know how some of Boston's hitters could lay off that nasty slider.
Just not fair when the guy can throw a 95 mph sinker that moves six feet.
Very impressive.
