Based on announced schedules and partial schedules for a handfull of teams these are my current SOS top 5 and bottom 5. I will have a complete workup on the comple FCS and break down by conference and so forth as soon as full schedules are relased for the remaining 12 schools or so.
Top 5
1 Southern Utah .637
2 Delaware .568
3 Dartmouth .565
4 Northern Colorado .557
5 Brown .555
Bottom 5
119 Eastern Kentucky .430
120 San Diego .425
121 Jacksonville State .415
122 Southeast Missouri State .414
123 La Salle .373
La Salle is one of the schools without full schedule being announced so its SOS could rise depending on who fills there remaining 2 or 3 slots.
I am saying it now. I dont want to hear any San Diego playoff talk this year NONE! :p

The forumal i used isnt ideal but it also takes into account more then just the opponents overall record.
it weighs the opponents record 2/3 and the oppponent opponents record 1/3 that simple.
those 2 ivies are high because they were the two worst IVy schools last year thus they arent brogut down by facing worse conference opponents except for each other once. They both also play some tough OOC games including Dartmouith at UNH and Brown vs URI which means there opp opp calculation includes CAA teams.
But the bottom line w/l wise they both play some tough schedules based on last seasons records, though im sure there rankings may change as the season moves forward.

Seriously I think they should call UNH and try working out a home and home, UNH would prolly want it this year to help offset a payout to Iona to cancel the game with them. That would instantly become one of the best games of the year.
Other then that I havent really looked at the openings but I will get back to you.

That was easy, short of teams canceling a game there not much to work with here. Sep 8 has Weber open but they have a rumored 11th game that would invoilve a cancel somewhere. Davidson and Valpo are also open.
Oct 6 just Howard.
Oct 13 just Saint Peter's
My best guess is that they will add a second FBS game and a Div II game But I have no idea whos open for those divisions

If San Diego (11-1) had same record as Brown (3-8) last year and visa versa both of their 07' scheduled opponents winning percentage would about the same. Not saying they will but an 11-0 San Diego team in 07' including a win against UC-Davis on Nov 17th should get them in the playoffs.

It's not likely San Diego will beat UCD at home. UCD should be better this year again as they add schollies. The red shirts from last year, should make a huge impact for the Aggie squad this year..

I agree with you and also with bobby that we will probably hook up with a MAC team and a D2...

I'm sorry but San Diego could somehow miraculously go 55-0 in an 11 game schedule and still shouldn't get a playoff bid with a strength of schedule in the bottom 5. Just can't happen.
I'm wondering where Albany would be? Probably pretty low as well. I'd have to imagine the NEC schedule brings them down.

Ya I know, and its not a perfect system.
Its purely win % based.
Navy had 9 wins as did West Chester, I could try to find a way to penalize for West Chester being a Div II but then I would have to reward Navy being an FBS and it would all just even out in the end.
5 opponents won atleast 9 games last year.

I'd like to get Howard to the Rock for homecoming! I'd rather us take Davidson over a DII mostly because they're pretty close so travel would be cheap.

Gotta figure Tod, with our OOC games sucking so bad, and not getting to play ourselves, we will in all probability have the lowest SOS in the entire BSC.

The only exclusion is opponents opponents win % isnt factored in for Sub division I and Football Bowl Subdivision opponents.
